It took us maybe half an hour to replace all forty-five. Our students were puzzled at what they were in the beginning. They didn't quite understand, which isn't surprising, since I didn't either. They look very different from what we replaced. \r\nIt is very nice knowing we will probably never have to replace these new arrow rests again. Your generous contribution of dry-erase boards, markers, and modeling clay helped us add more variety to our stop-motion animation unit. Because of you, our classroom has become a hub of creativity, storytelling, and problem-solving. Students are getting to explore their imaginations through different artistic mediums. \r\n\r\nThe resources you help provide have been used to create a variety of stop-motion videos, with students exploring the unique properties of each medium. The first medium explored was with the dry-erase boards and markers. This method was a perfect introduction to the concept of stop-motion, as it allowed for quick and easy adjustments. The modeling clay animations helped students dive into a more complex side of stop-motion animation. Students were able to create elaborate characters and tell different stories. The focus of shaping and posing the characters frame-by-frame was challenging but my students were excited to take on the challenge. Students also had the opportunity to use construction paper and create papermation videos. \r\n\r\nOverall, the excitement of my students was very evident as they created their variety of stop-motions. The focus and intent my students showed during this unit was memorable. They had the best of time working with the different mediums. I introduced the different mediums and they were able to explore each one and at the end of the week they got to choose their favorite method and create a final video. \r\n\r\nThank you again for helping my students by providing materials for a fun and engaging lesson.","fullyFundedDate":1755776272513,"projectUrl":"project/stop-motion/9474256/","projectTitle":"Stop Motion","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Baca","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7030142_orig.jpg?crop=668,668,x0,y82&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1663360326037","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7030142"},{"teacherId":3536125,"projectId":9121317,"letterContent":"To begin, I want to thank all of my donors for making this experience happen for my students. The project was to dissect owl pellets and learn how organisms survive and what they survive off of in their environments. \r\nMy students were pretty grossed out to begin with. Sorry for being direct with that comment, but that is exactly how they felt. As the dissecting began and the students started to find the remains of the organisms that owls fed off of, the students really got into the project. They had a bone guide available to them, so that they could identify what they were looking at and what organisms also lived among the owls. It was very exciting when they would find a full skull of a rodent. Students learned patience as they needed to be very careful while removing debris from the bones. Students learned that all species depend on certain organisms to survive and what might happen if the ecosystem were to be disturbed.\r\nOverall, this project was a great way to close up our ecosystem unit and to close up the year after all of their hard work. It was great to see their excitement, their curiosity, and their learning through the whole process.","fullyFundedDate":1743000921030,"projectUrl":"project/explore-the-world-of-owls-through-what-t/9121317/","projectTitle":"Explore the World of Owls Through What They Eat!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nickel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3536125_orig.jpg?crop=1160,1160,x0,y123&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1739990788250","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3536125"},{"teacherId":9728316,"projectId":9147214,"letterContent":"Thanks to your contribution, our students had the invaluable opportunity to engage in hands-on science learning that deepened their understanding of biology, the food chain, and science investigation practices. The experience not only sparked curiosity but also inspired many students to ask more questions and research.\r\nThe students were excited when they first heard about our dissecting investigation. Some students were naturally grossed out, but were deeply engaged once they got started. Once students dissected their owl pellet, they started figuring out what animal(s) their owl ate by putting the bones together. This led to more questions they wanted to investigate. \r\nI love watching students expressions, learning, and wondering. This is how Science should be!\r\nI am truly grateful for your support in enriching our classroom experience and helping to provide meaningful, real-world learning opportunities.","fullyFundedDate":1742908588666,"projectUrl":"project/dissecting-is-a-hoot/9147214/","projectTitle":"Dissecting is a HOOT","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tindall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9728316"},{"teacherId":9928290,"projectId":9123635,"letterContent":"I cannot even begin to thank you enough for the donation you gave to help fund my classroom project. The students all year have been wanting to do experiments and dissections but the curriculum just didn't quite allow for a lot of fun stuff. I assured them that by the end of the year we would find a project that we could do that would be intriguing for them yet still related to learning. \r\n\r\nIn the past the other Science teachers had done the barn owl dissection and swore by it as fun, intriguing yet challenging enough to keep them interested. We spent some time learning about barn owl pellets and what they are exactly. Watched some interesting videos that made them even more excited. Once the day came to do the barn owl pellets they could hardly contain themselves with excitement, even those who swore they weren't touching them, did.\r\n\r\nIt was a complete success in every way and an experience they will never forget, I am sure of it. Your kindness and generosity have made a lasting impact on my students, providing them with the tools they need to learn, create, and engage in more meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nWith your donation, my students now have access to essential supplies like headphones for those who weren't able to bring their own, clipboards for working independently around the room, and colorful markers and post-its to collaborate and share ideas during stations and group work. These materials have allowed us to transform our classroom into a more active and dynamic learning environment.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting changes has been watching my students embrace reusable materials like microfiber cloths instead of disposable tissues. It's inspiring to see them not only care about their learning but also about the environment. The sensory stickers have also been a huge hit, helping students stay calm and focused during lessons. Plus, the little incentives like candy during review games have sparked even more excitement and motivation to participate.\r\n\r\nYour donation has truly made our classroom a place where every student feels supported and empowered to do their best. My students come from a variety of backgrounds, and having a steady safe place at school is an important. My first thought is always to create a safe and calm atmosphere for them to learn. Relationships and basic needs are always my first priority. \r\n\r\nAlso, my students have special needs. Between sensory and learning difficulties, we do a lot of emotional regulation. I have also studied the effects of trauma affecting education. Basic needs like hunger need to be met before learning can take place, and your gift helped us to curb some of those needs. \r\n\r\nThe kids were always so happy when the snacks arrived and continue to ask about you all. They wanted to eat them all right away! However, we did make sure to spread out the snacks and mints so that they lasted.
