Our students recently celebrated their first quarter successes at our fall festival. Our staff and I were overjoyed to see that nearly all of our students had met the behavioral and academic requirements to attend the festival and to celebrate their success. The incentive of an upcoming fall festival as well as other school-wide incentives have proven successful in increasing our rate of attendance which we know increases learning. We were also able to allow students who typically do not participate in clubs to participate in the planning and hosting of our fall festival. It was exciting to see them step up and embrace a leadership role in this way.\r\n On the day of the fall festival, your donations allowed me to set up free events that would keep the students busy and active. The students were able to enjoy pieces of candy at a free ring toss station, fun competition at the bumper balls station, independent competition and candy at the dart board station, dance to music, and just enjoy being children. Additionally, we were able to set up more stations by reusing materials received from donations made previously through Donors Choose. We plan to continue to motivate our students using the supplies provided. We are planning to celebrate with our students through a winter fun day, a spring festival, and a few fun surprises using the materials we received. \r\n Overall, it was a great day of celebration! It was nice to see our students all excited and busy having fun and without worries. This would not have been possible without the generosity of each of the donors who contributed to my project. Please know that I am incredibly grateful for each of you and the generosity you have shown. The snacks were used to provide energy for teachers during the session after a full day of teaching. The office supplies were given to teachers to take notes. For my first session, I discussed what AI is and demonstrated how to use Magic School and Chat GPT. For my second session, I showed English Language Arts and Math teachers how to use Sparkstudio from IXL. And, for my last session, I showed websites teachers can use to for assessments. \r\n\r\nThis was the first time I held professional learning sessions. The highlight I got from each session was watching teachers trying out the websites I discussed.
