The smiles, excitement, and immediate reaction of, \"Can we sit on it?\" were priceless! What may seem like a simple rug to some has become a very special part of our classroom. Family Time has quickly become one of their favorite parts of the day because they get to gather together on the rug, talk with one another, share their ideas, laugh, and start our day as a classroom family. For a group of sixth graders who are adjusting to a new school year, new expectations, and so many changes, having a comfortable place where everyone can come together has made a bigger difference than I could have imagined.\r\n\r\nOur rug is already being used every day—not just for Family Time, but for reading, discussions, partner activities, and moments when we simply need to come together. My students are learning that our classroom is more than just a place where they complete assignments. It is a place where they belong, where their voices matter, and where we support one another. As we continue growing as readers, writers, and leaders, I know this rug will hold countless conversations, celebrations, stories, and memories throughout the year. You didn't just give my students a rug; you gave them a place to gather, connect, and feel like they belong.
