One of my favorite moments was watching a group of beginners proudly hold up their very first completed squares. Seeing their confidence grow stitch by stitch has been incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the supplies, their excitement was immediate. They couldn't wait to choose their yarn colors and flip through the pattern books. Even students who were initially unsure quickly became engaged once they realized they could create something beautiful with their own hands. There was such a buzz of anticipation in the room as they picked up their hooks and started their first chains.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has allowed students to learn something new, take pride in their accomplishments, and build a supportive community around creativity. Having consistent access to basic supplies, such as tissues, notebooks, and cleaning materials, has helped our classroom run more smoothly and efficiently each day.\r\n\r\nStudents are more comfortable and focused because their needs are met. We no longer lose instructional time searching for supplies or worrying about running out during the school day. The availability of cleaning supplies has helped us maintain a cleaner, healthier learning environment, which is especially important during THIS cold and flu season.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this project has helped create a classroom where students feel cared for and supported. When their learning space is clean, organized, and fully stocked, students are better able to focus on their work and take pride in their classroom. This support has allowed me to focus more on teaching and supporting student growth rather than managing shortages of basic materials.","fullyFundedDate":1758811322323,"projectUrl":"project/from-the-inside-out-supporting-student/9531521/","projectTitle":"From the Inside Out: Supporting Student Wellness","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Karlowicz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kristie-karlowicz"},{"teacherId":460085,"projectId":9472297,"letterContent":"Your generosity made an immediate and meaningful difference in our classroom! Thanks to your support, my students had the basic supplies they needed to stay healthy, organized, and focused on learning. These essentials (like tissues, notebooks, and cleaning materials) may have seemed small, but they made a big impact by keeping our learning space clean, comfortable, and productive.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my students spent less time worrying about missing materials and more time growing, collaborating, and achieving their goals each day. Technology has become a vital tool in helping them develop reading and writing skills, especially for students with special needs who benefit from individualized instruction.\r\n\r\nThe iPads enable students to utilize text-to-speech apps to better decode and comprehend text, speech-to-text tools to express their ideas without frustration, and interactive literacy apps that make reading engaging and enjoyable. Our students are also exploring digital libraries, which provide them with access to diverse, leveled texts that match their interests and reading abilities.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is the independence and confidence the iPads give them. Many students who previously struggled with reading or writing are now able to complete tasks independently, participate more actively in class, and take pride in their progress. Students with special needs, in particular, have readily adopted the technology, utilizing it to practice skills at their own pace and engage in learning experiences that feel tailored to their needs.\r\n\r\nOverall, the iPads have not only enhanced literacy instruction but also fostered a love of reading and a sense of accomplishment in all of our learners.","fullyFundedDate":1746787215157,"projectUrl":"project/enhancing-literacy-for-all-ipads-for-in/9104161/","projectTitle":"Enhancing Literacy for All: iPads for Inclusive Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Karlowicz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kristie-karlowicz"},{"teacherId":1073428,"projectId":9134402,"letterContent":"When our new flexible seating arrived, the energy in the classroom completely shifted. The bungee chairs and other seating choices quickly became student favorites, especially in our reading nooks. Suddenly, independent reading felt more like curling up in a cozy spot at home, and group projects became more relaxed and engaging. One of my favorite moments was seeing a small group gathered in the nook, each in a bungee chair, leaning in as they bounced ideas off one another. The comfort and excitement of the new setup seemed to spark even more participation and creativity.\r\n\r\nThe day the materials first showed up was unforgettable—students' faces lit up as soon as they saw the chairs. They rushed to try them out, laughing and asking if they could sit there every day. It felt like Christmas morning in our classroom, and that joy carried over into their work. The room immediately felt warmer and more inviting, and the kids took pride in \"their\" new learning space.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're using the flexible seating to build stamina for independent reading and to support our writing and reading workshops. The students love having the choice of where to sit, and it's helping them find their own best ways to focus and collaborate. Even though we couldn't purchase the futon, the bungee chairs and other seating have been a perfect fit, giving students both comfort and ownership of their learning environment. It's clear these additions have made our classroom feel more like a community space where learning is something they look forward to.","fullyFundedDate":1746787158760,"projectUrl":"project/you-can-sit-with-us/9134402/","projectTitle":"You Can Sit With Us!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1073428_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1568229743470","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/cheree-bell"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_83822","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":405,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":87,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":94,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"22.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":72.3,"schoolId":83822,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Warrensville Heights Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Warrensville Heights Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/warrensville-heights-city-school-district/warrensville-heights-mid-school/83822"}
