While the students were thrilled by the vibrant new colors, the true \"hero\" of this project has been our new shelving system for our paint trays. When the students saw the organized setup, they were fascinated by how their supplies now have a dedicated home. It has sparked a wonderful conversation across all grade levels about how artists must care for their tools to keep them \"alive\" and ready for the next masterpiece.\r\nThese specialized shelves have solved a major classroom hurdle. Previously, our wet paint trays took up every inch of our valuable counter space while they waited to dry, often leading to accidental spills or trays being stacked and ruined. Now, these shelves allow the paint to dry properly between classes so the colors stay crisp and don't get \"muddy\" or ruined. By clearing the clutter off our workspaces, my K-5 students have more room to spread out, move freely, and focus on their techniques without feeling cramped.\r\nA specific moment that stood out was during a recent 4th-grade color-mixing lesson. Instead of the usual scramble to find a spot to set things down, the students smoothly transitioned to the shelves, sliding their trays into place with ease. One student noted how \"clean and fancy\" the room felt. This organization has turned our cleanup time from a chaotic rush into a calm, respectful routine.\r\nLooking ahead, we are starting a school-wide mural project. Having these shelves means we can keep dozens of paint trays prepped and preserved for multiple classes throughout the week. Your generosity hasn't just provided color; it has provided the structure and space we needed to be truly productive. The new resources have allowed us to enhance our creative projects in ways we couldn't have imagined before.\r\n\r\nOne exciting example was when we began our Reggie Laurent inspired artowrk. The students were so excited to dive into painting and creating art abstract art. It was incredible to see how their creativity flourished as they experimented with the different mediums, knowing they had quality materials to work with. The laminating pouches allowed us to preserve their best works and turn them into keepsakes, whether for a classroom display or as part of a portfolio project.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students couldn't contain their excitement! There was a collective \"wow\" when they saw the new paint, paper, and laminating supplies. Some students had never worked with high-quality mixed media paper or used laminating pouches before, so they immediately felt like their artwork would be even more special. It really elevated their confidence and gave them a renewed sense of pride in their work.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are planning to use the materials to create even more interactive projects. These resources have not only fueled their artistic expression but also set the stage for deeper learning and collaboration in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, my students are more engaged and excited about their creative journey, and we can't wait to see where their imagination takes them next!","fullyFundedDate":1732111548572,"projectUrl":"project/running-out-of-paint/8892526/","projectTitle":"Running Out of Paint","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Colburn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7991426_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1653844364726","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7991426"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_83269","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":216,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":63,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":94,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":83269,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Coolville Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Coolville Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/federal-hocking-local-school-district/coolville-elementary-school/83269"}
