Students are reading new books, in class and at home. One student was so excited to check-out the \"Messi\" book that he came in before class to pick it up. Students are taking home supplies for laundry, and grabbing soap and deodorant as needed. Many students are coming between classes when they need a feminine hygiene product, knowing our room is a safe space that can give them what they need to stay focused on learning.\r\n\r\nStudents love the books! A few of our students from Palestine were so excited and eager to take home the books about a Palestinian girl that we needed to make a wait list. Watching them feel excited to read books they can meaningfully connect to is amazing.\r\n\r\nNow, we are continuing essay writing, and will soon start our Mythology unit. Students can supplement their readings in class with some of different texts you helped donate. Students will continue to have access to necessary resources that allow them the dignity they deserve.\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you for donating to our classroom. My students are incredible people, and with your help, they will continue to make progress learning.","fullyFundedDate":1758044306972,"projectUrl":"project/reading-and-feeling-fresh/9707641/","projectTitle":"Reading and Feeling Fresh","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hamilton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10087115"},{"teacherId":10087115,"projectId":9485848,"letterContent":"Thank you for helping to fund \"Building Community and Learning English Collaboratively.\" When returning students first saw our new classroom with new supplies, they gasped. The room is welcoming and highlights how important and incredible reading and literature are. Students love the classroom library (thanks to all our new shelves and beanbags), and the ability to easily and comfortably access reading materials throughout class time.\r\n\r\nThe organization trays have allowed access for students to classroom materials and work in a simpler format. Also, they access personal hygiene items with the smaller organization trays we received through this project, so students can discretely take what they need to feel comfortable without having to face embarrassment or judgement. The new teaching table has made group work more accessible and comfortable, so reading groups and book clubs are an every day occurrence in the classroom. Students have an easier time working in a small-group with their teacher, which makes learner more accessible.\r\n\r\nYesterday, a student came up to me and asked independently if she could bring a book from our classroom library home to read. A simple moment, but so powerful. Reading is part of her life, and you helped make that happen. Students check-out books each day and return with more knowledge, confidence, and ability. It's inspiring to see. Thank you for all your help and efforts to help fund this project.","fullyFundedDate":1753545622258,"projectUrl":"project/building-community-and-learning-english/9485848/","projectTitle":"Building Community and Learning English Collaboratively","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hamilton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10087115"},{"teacherId":2963635,"projectId":9132060,"letterContent":"Thank you for your support! Students in my classroom are always so excited when the snack drawer is filled. Knowing that they will have access to food during the day if they arrive late and miss breakfast, did not get enough at lunch or need something to take to practice with them or on the bus for a long ride home is priceless. Your donation has made a huge impact and is greatly appreciated. Food insecurity is something that is not often talked about. Young people do not want to openly share with anyone that they do not have access to enough food. Your donation helps take away that pressure by allowing anyone who is feeling hungry to grab a snack without having to explain or have money. Thank you, again. The students were very excited about having specimens with which to work. As an instructor, it was so thrilling to see the students interacting with the course material in a hands on matter. I was delighted to see all of the higher level thinking that occurred as students made vital connections to what they had learned in the lecture portion of the course. \r\n\r\nMany students reported to me that they would not have had opportunities to view hearts, brains, and fetal pigs in other course, and that they had never done such \"cool\" activities in their previous science classes. Your generosity allowed me to include more students in the activity, because I was able to collaborate with a teacher in a special needs classroom so that she and her students could come to our heart dissection class. These students were excited and told me that they learned a lot from the experience. Their involvement also helped my own students, because they acted as peer instructors and helped the students learn about the four chambers of the heart.\r\n\r\nThank you for your dedication to urban education and the advancement of scientific literacy.
