Your kindness has given our students new opportunities to be active, creative and social during recess.\r\n\r\nMy students are using the new resources every day during recess. They enjoy playing with the balls, creating colorful games and drawings with the sidewalk chalk and practicing their coordination and movement skills with the hopscotch game kit. These resources have encouraged students to get up, move around, try new activities and play together. We have seen students sharing equipment, taking turns, creating their own games and including classmates in their play.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new recess equipment, they were excited and eager to play! Their enthusiasm was immediate as they looked at all of the new balls, chalk and hopscotch games. It was wonderful to see their faces light up as they began thinking about all the different ways they could use the equipment. What might seem like simple recess supplies have made a meaningful difference in our students' daily experiences.\r\n\r\nLastly, thank you very much to the SONIC Foundation for investing in our school and students and helping make recess a time for movement, creativity, friendship and fun. The Magnetic tiles are a hit! Students of all ages and abilities enjoy their versatility. Students created enormous castle like structures, highways and byways with ramps cars and pedestrians. Some students created cities. The creative process warmed my heart when students who wouldn't usually work together were able to collaborate and make something special. This activity has been a great reward for early finishers or to break up instruction for the younger students or more medically involved students. The tiles are also well made and almost indestructible when structures collapse. The collapsing and rebuilding process has helped students with their self-regulation and resilience because other students would help with a new build. Thank you again for your generosity. My students are low income special education students that require a lot of foundational reading intervention. These students do not see a lot of \"new\" items so when they saw the brand new boxes that we got to open together they were so happy.
