Your generosity allowed me to provide indiviual tuners and mirrors throughout rehearsals to help individual students who needed extra reienforcement. Many times a student will try really hard to do what I am asking of them to set up a proper embouchure in order to make something happen on their instrument, but with limited success. This is often because they can not see what their face muscles are doing, and they think they are doing one thing until they see themselves in a mirror. As soon as they can see their actual embouchure or what they are doing incorrectly, they can very often correct the problem quickly and experience success on their instrument!\r\n\r\nThe tuners have been a huge success! The students have been very responsible getting them out and using them in class and then letting me know when they need to be charged. At first I was a little nervous about adding extra technology into rehearsals, because I was afraid that it may be distracting. The kids have really risen to the challenge! One student in particular switched to horn this year, which is a difficult instrument to match pitch on. He's the only one playing the instrument in his class, and the tuner has been so important in helping him find success! When another school visited our school for our All-County clinic, their horn players picked one up and used them too. Their director was thrilled with how it helped them and is looking to purchase tuners for their classroom as well. \r\n\r\nThis project took a little longer to get rolling than I intially thought it would but once going, the students have experienced so much growth and success thanks to you! I look forward to continuing to use these resources in the years to come.
