While the advancements in technology have been great learning tools for elementary students research has found that fine motor skills are becoming weaker. Using these tools in the classroom allows students to strengthen their fine motor muscles. They have loved practicing snapping, buckling, tying, lacing, zipping, buttoning, and snapping! By practicing these skills my students are able to become more independent tying shoes, zipping their own coats, and buttoning their clothes. \r\n\r\nHighlighters are such a great tool in my class! We use them to highlight words in word searches and to highlight spelling patterns in words.
