Using the mock store helped the students learn about things such as wants/needs, scarcity, supply/demand, and spending/saving. They had so much fun learning in an engaging way about these topics.\r\n\r\nThey were motivated to earn class cash in order to purchase the flashlights, sunglasses, Play-Doh, beach balls and more. This gave my students the opportunity to learn about managing inventory, calculating costs, and determining prices.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your support! Students explored the lives of famous artists, made connections to history and literature, and then got to work—each one creating a masterpiece of their very own using the canvases and acrylic sets you helped provide.\r\n\r\nThe pride on their faces as they painted (and later showed off their work!) was absolutely priceless. While the advancements in technology have been great learning tools for elementary students research has found that fine motor skills are becoming weaker. Using these tools in the classroom allows students to strengthen their fine motor muscles. They have loved practicing snapping, buckling, tying, lacing, zipping, buttoning, and snapping! By practicing these skills my students are able to become more independent tying shoes, zipping their own coats, and buttoning their clothes. \r\n\r\nHighlighters are such a great tool in my class! We use them to highlight words in word searches and to highlight spelling patterns in words. My students were desperately in need of them! Our school uses many programs which incorporate technology in the classroom and everyday lessons. My students use some programs called iReady & SplashLearn Math which deliver reading and math lessons on their individual levels. These lessons are very engaging and the students are making progress in all areas.\r\n\r\nThe students are able to tune out what is going on within the rest of the room and can now focus on their individual activities. They are getting the instruction delivered right into their ears without their classmates hearing what is being assigned to them. This is great because no one knows what level others are working on. This decreases the chances of kids feeling they aren't as smart as others. All of the students are grateful for your generosity!
