The students in my classroom had always been part of the school but with all of these fantastic materials I believe they really feel like they are a part of a small community right in our classroom. \r\nMorning meeting has been a great success! That had been one of my top priorities for this program, which typically focuses most of its time on behavior management. Now, students are coming together every morning, sitting as a group, sharing the entire experience. We talk about the date and count all of the days of the month. We talk about the weather and look out our window to show we've chosen the right \"type\" of weather for the day. We work on a letter of the day and read a story usually based on the letter of the day. Every morning our meeting moves into song, and the students are learning how to have fun in a safe way, as a group. \r\nThe bean bag chairs have also been a hit in our reading nook. The students love having a place to sit and relax and look at a book. As all of my students right now are nonreaders, the ability to sit comfortably and enjoy illustrations makes a world of a difference! \r\nThere are so many other wonderful materials we have been blessed with. Whether it is the wooden puzzles, buckets of slime, or pocket charts to hold visual aids, everything is being utilized and the students are taking very good care of their classroom!
