Access to individual water bottles will help students stay hydrated, especially after physical activity and during warmer weather. Proper hydration helps young children maintain energy, improve concentration, and remain engaged in classroom activities.\r\nHaving water bottles readily available in the classroom will also reduce unnecessary transitions and minimize lost instructional time. Instead of students leaving the classroom individually to visit the hallway water station, they will be able to quickly access water at their seats or cubbies and return immediately to learning. This will create a smoother daily routine and allow for more uninterrupted teaching and learning time.\r\nIn addition, providing reusable water bottles promotes healthy habits and encourages personal responsibility as students learn to care for and use their own supplies each day. It also reduces the need for disposable paper cups, making the classroom more environmentally friendly.\r\nOverall, this project will create a healthier, more efficient, and more student-centered learning environment where first graders can stay comfortable, focused, and ready to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1777988473008,"projectUrl":"project/staying-hydrated-in-first-grade-a-thirs/10158096/","projectTitle":"Staying Hydrated in First Grade: A Thirst For Knowledge","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Pittard","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9622393_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1722647319111","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9622393"},{"teacherId":9622393,"projectId":10162324,"letterContent":"Winning this grant has made a meaningful impact on my first-grade classroom and my students' daily learning experiences. The individual whiteboards and erasers have transformed the way students participate, practice skills, and engage with instruction across all subject areas.\r\n\r\nSince receiving these materials, every student now has the opportunity to actively participate during lessons instead of waiting for a turn or working passively. The whiteboards have created an interactive learning environment where students feel excited to share their thinking, take academic risks, and practice new skills with confidence. Whether students are solving math problems, practicing phonics patterns, writing sight words, or responding to comprehension questions, all students are engaged at the same time.\r\n\r\nOne of the greatest impacts has been the increase in student confidence. Many first graders are still developing foundational literacy and math skills and may feel hesitant to answer aloud in front of peers. Using whiteboards allows students to practice independently and display their work in a low-pressure way. I have seen students who were once reluctant to participate become more willing to share answers and contribute during lessons.\r\n\r\nThe whiteboards have also strengthened instructional effectiveness. I am now able to quickly assess student understanding in real time and provide immediate feedback or intervention when needed. This has helped me identify misconceptions more efficiently and adjust instruction to better meet the needs of all learners. Students receive more immediate support, which helps build stronger academic foundations.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the reusable materials have helped reduce paper waste while increasing opportunities for hands-on learning throughout the school day. Students are more engaged, lessons move more efficiently, and classroom participation has improved significantly.\r\n\r\nThis grant has provided my students with tools that support active learning, collaboration, and academic growth. The impact extends beyond the materials themselves—it has helped create a classroom culture where students feel confident, involved, and excited to learn each day.\r\n\r\nI am deeply grateful for this support and for the investment made in the success of my first-grade students.","fullyFundedDate":1777989601100,"projectUrl":"project/enhancing-engagement-and-learning-throug/10162324/","projectTitle":"Enhancing Engagement and Learning Through Individual Whiteboards","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Pittard","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9622393_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1722647319111","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9622393"},{"teacherId":9624683,"projectId":9090619,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my students now have the clothing they need to feel comfortable and confident each day.
