Because of your kindness, my students now have wonderful resources that help them learn through play while building important communication, social, emotional, and fine motor skills.\r\n\r\nWhen I introduced the new materials, my students were immediately excited. The Construction Play Box quickly became a favorite, with students eagerly scooping, digging, building roads, and using the construction vehicles together. It created wonderful opportunities for cooperative play, requesting materials, taking turns, and expanding vocabulary.\r\n\r\nThe Big Feelings Pineapple has become an engaging way to teach emotions and facial expressions. Many of my students have autism and are learning to recognize and express their feelings. They love creating different faces on the pineapple and talking about when they feel happy, sad, excited, frustrated, or calm. It has opened the door to meaningful conversations about emotions in a fun, hands-on way.\r\n\r\nThe sensory fidgets and Breathing Pals have already become valuable calming tools throughout our day. My students are learning how to use these resources to regulate their emotions, practice deep breathing, and return to learning when they begin to feel overwhelmed. It has been wonderful to watch them become more independent in managing their feelings.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, these resources will be incorporated into our daily centers, social-emotional lessons, sensory breaks, and small-group instruction. My goal is to help each child build communication skills, develop friendships, increase independence, and gain confidence through engaging, hands-on learning experiences.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has provided so much more than classroom materials—it has created opportunities for growth, connection, and joyful learning every single day. Thank you for believing in my students and helping them succeed. Your kindness is making a lasting difference in their lives.","fullyFundedDate":1782185198270,"projectUrl":"project/preschool-sensory-toys/10119844/","projectTitle":"Preschool Sensory Toys","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Junio","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9940010_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742238147974","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9940010"},{"teacherId":2769276,"projectId":9220527,"letterContent":"We are so excited to share an update on our greenhouse project! Thanks to your generosity, we were finally able to build the greenhouse in our school garden, tucked right behind the muscadine grapevine. The students were absolutely ecstatic when they first saw it—they couldn't believe we now have a space where they can propagate and grow plants all year long.\r\n\r\nThe greenhouse sits on a sturdy wooden base (like a deck), and the students love spending time in it. It's just the right size for them, and we've already added a rain barrel so they can learn how to collect and use rainwater to care for their plants. They're already imagining all the growing projects they'll be able to do in every season!\r\n\r\nOur next step is to build shelves inside the greenhouse. We'll be repurposing pallets to create them, which gives us the chance to teach students about sustainability while also expanding the greenhouse's growing space. We're also planning to add a pathway and ramp to make it more accessible for all of our students.\r\n\r\nThis project has already sparked so much joy and curiosity. The greenhouse is going to be a hands-on classroom where students learn about science, sustainability, and healthy food—and we can't thank you enough for helping make it possible.","fullyFundedDate":1744830655453,"projectUrl":"project/growing-minds-a-greenhouse-for-our-gar/9220527/","projectTitle":"Growing Minds: a Greenhouse for Our Garden","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Russell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2769276_orig.jpg?crop=720,720,x0,y120&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1704808840172","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2769276"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_20776","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":885,"numTeachers":69,"percentFrplEligible":13,"percentAsian":15,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":65,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":69.6,"schoolId":20776,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Holly Grove Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Holly Grove Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/wake-county-public-school-system/holly-grove-elementary/20776"}
