My class was so excited when I rolled in the giant boxes with our giant building blocks! They have been building non-stop, the block area is now one of the most popular centers in my play-based Pre-K classroom. They have made roads, ramps, houses, banks, hide-outs, and zoos with the blocks. These blocks have allowed them to make buildings large enough to walk inside of which is quite thrilling for them. They have explored velocity and gravity with varying ramp heights. They have increased their dramatic storytelling with the animal families. They love holding the colorful window blocks up to their eyes to change their view of the world. My students were thrilled when they saw big boxes arrive in our room. We created beautiful underwater paintings with our iridescent watercolors. Students explored textures by creating shoe print clay turtles with the air dry clay. The art easel has been hopping with students eager to paint large pictures with our sturdy construction paper. Everyone practiced their math skills by creating bracelets with repeating patterns with the pony beads.\r\nBy funding this project you enable me to further my student's learning in a beautiful and creative way. You also empowered students to make their own creations with high quality materials.
