We have been visiting the nursing home for several years now and the residents look forward to seeing the kids each month. When we told the students we were going to make goodie bags for the grandmas and the grandpas they were so excited. Once the items arrived they had a blast opening them to see what we were going to give the residents. They talked about it to our staff here at Earl Bradsher. We talked about each item we would put in the bag and how the grandmas and the grandpas could use them.\r\nThe day came to go visit the nursing home and the students were so excited to take their care packages to the grandmas and grandpas. They all wanted to carry something. Their excitement of them showing love and compassion to the residents was heartwarming. Once we arrived at the nursing home the students who had went before immediately went and sat with a resident. We sang some songs for and with the residents. Then the students paired with a resident and played the games we had gotten. The smiles and conversations during their play was worth every second spent on this project. The students passed out the goodie bags to the residents along with a fall pictdure they had colored. The residents were very grateful for their items. They wanted to know where I got them. I explained to them that we had some nice members of our community donate them. They were excited to open the materials. The view finders right now are their favorite. \r\nWe are looking forward to introducing the terrarium and root finder in our studies at a later time. \r\nHaving these materials for hands on experience will enhance their imagination and creativity.
