As you know, I teach middle and high school students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, Down syndrome, and autism. Communication with families can be difficult but, thanks to the durable folders you helped fund, I am able to communicate easily! Families and students understand how to use the folder! Finding materials that are accessible, engaging, and age-appropriate is a constant challenge. Scholastic News has proven to be that tool! \r\nI am able to use a lower grade level that matches my students' reading and comprehension levels while still offering real, meaningful content. The articles are simple but never feel babyish. They help my students understand the world around them and make connections to their own lives.\r\nScholastic News supports learning across multiple subjects. In reading, it builds fluency and comprehension. For writing, we use it to practice responding to questions, summarizing, and sharing opinions. Most articles teach social studies topics, which we expand on with visuals, discussions, and hands-on activities. Science Spin focuses on science content. Even basic math concepts come up through graphs and charts in the magazine.\r\nMost of all, Scholastic News gets my students excited to learn. On behalf of my students and myself, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your generous donation to our classroom through DonorsChoose. Your contribution allowed us to acquire a set of Hot Dots, a wonderful interactive learning tool that is already making a tremendous impact on our students' education.\r\n\r\nThe Hot Dots game has been an absolute hit in our classroom! I wish you could have seen their faces when they first played with them. Everyone of them were saying things like, \"Wow!\" and \"Cool!\" With its special pen that instantly checks students' answers, it offers a fun, engaging, and independent way for our students to practice and reinforce their learning. The excitement on their faces as they use the pens to check their answers is priceless. It not only motivates them to take ownership of their learning but also gives them the confidence to work through challenges on their own.\r\n\r\nYour donation has made a real difference, helping to create an environment where students feel excited to learn and explore. They are developing critical thinking skills and gaining more confidence in subjects that once felt intimidating. The combination of fun and educational value makes Hot Dots an invaluable tool in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your incredible generosity and support.
