As a special education resource teacher, I work with students who have a variety of learning, sensory, and emotional needs. Having a space where they can feel safe, comfortable, and supported makes such a difference in their ability to focus and learn.\r\n\r\nThe materials from this project are helping me create a classroom where students have opportunities to take a break, calm their bodies, and reset when they're feeling overwhelmed or frustrated. These tools also help students focus by giving them appropriate ways to manage sensory needs, release extra energy, and prepare their minds for learning. Sometimes, a student just needs a few minutes in a comfortable spot before they're ready to jump back into learning. These resources also give us opportunities to practice self-regulation strategies and talk about recognizing and managing our emotions. I love being able to provide my students with tools that support not just their academic growth, but their social and emotional development as well.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, I'll continue teaching my students how to recognize when they need a break and how to use these resources independently. My goal is for them to build skills they can carry with them beyond my classroom.
