The new canopy playhouse, with its working door and pretend grill, has transformed our outdoor area into a hub of activity and imagination. The children were ecstatic when the equipment was assembled, shouting \"new toys!\" and declaring it \"the best day ever!\"\r\nThe playhouse has become a stage for their imaginations, where they act out everything from ice cream shops to family dinners. The realistic toy kitchen, complete with pots, pans, and play food, has sparked endless culinary adventures, with children pretending to run coffee shops and host birthday parties. The basketball hoop has encouraged friendly competition and helped develop their gross motor skills.\r\nThe new equipment has been wonderful for developing the children's social skills. Whether they're taking turns being chef and customer in the playhouse, cooperating to run a coffee shop in the toy kitchen, or cheering each other on at the basketball hoop, they're constantly learning to share, negotiate, and build friendships. It's been especially rewarding to see children who previously played alone now actively engaging with their peers. This increased engagement has translated into longer periods of focused play, allowing them to explore their creativity and develop their social skills more deeply.\r\nThank you again for making such a positive difference in the lives of these children. Your generosity will continue to inspire their play and learning for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1733235413794,"projectUrl":"project/outdoor-learning-environment/8945878/","projectTitle":"Outdoor Learning Environment","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sara","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9838622_orig.jpg?crop=2048,2048,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731709302745","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9838622"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_2455","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":320,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":92,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":12,"percentWhite":59,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":76.9,"schoolId":2455,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Oakwood Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Oakwood Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/hickory-public-schools/oakwood-elementary-school/2455"}
