Who doesn't love to be recognized for putting forth effort? And the prizes we bought through your generous donations did just that - recognized students for CHOOSING to read! Students meeting baseline criteria of individually contributing to the school-wide goal of reading 1,000,000 minutes were entered in multiple drawings during a week-long Beanstack celebration. Thanks to your generosity, 240 students were awarded prizes during the week. Our principal loved walking the hallways during morning announcements and hearing cheers coming from classrooms as the winners were announced, and the students could hardly wait until lunchtime when they could claim their prize.\r\n\r\nThe excitement of being recognized for reading was palpable during the Beanstack celebration week. Thank you again for donating and helping us build a positive reading culture! The students are already looking forward to next year's Beanstack Reading Challenges. This was, and continues to be the goal: to build excitement about CHOOSING to read! The tables came in just at the end of the school year and I set the room up over the summer. One of the goals to this project was to design a classroom that has no front. The focus of the students should be all around. With your donations, the tables have achieved this goal.\r\n\r\nSchool started 3 weeks ago and the students are loving the opportunity to stand and work. We work on thinking problems a few times a week with an emphasis on listening to each other and communicating their ideas. This is such a different approach for them and they are loving the movement, being able to get out of their seats, and actively participate in our activities.
