My students have been so excited to have the alternative seating options. They love the chances they have to sit in comfortable floor chairs. They can participate in whole group instruction on the carpet, listen to our read aloud book, and compete their independent math work using the chairs. \r\n\r\nThese chairs have motivated my students to complete more or their homework, and improved their classroom behavior. The opportunity to sit in our \"alternative\" chairs is very exciting for everyone in class, and they are incredibly happy when they see their names in the board each day.\r\n\r\nCurrently, we are reviewing for our end of grade assessments. Not having to sit in traditional desks while preparing for this stressful time of the year has allowed my students to feel less anxiety about their upcoming tests. \r\n\r\nIt may seem like being able to sit in a chair that rocks or reclines is not a big deal, but to my students it is. The ability to move their bodies allows them to focus more on what they are learning. They are able to hear themselves for what they are reading and correcting their own reading skills. \r\nThe wobble stool has helped students who need to have a little extra wiggle during instruction. It has been helping their focus and attention while learning direct instruction. The wobble stool has also been used as a positive incentive for other students who would like the opportunity to sit on it. \r\nThe pencil sharpener has been an absolute game changer! The students have improved drastically with their independence to sharpen pencils. It has also helped eliminate the amount of times students get up to sharpen their pencils throughout the day.
