Your generosity has provided our young readers with chapter books that open the door to new adventures, interesting characters, and opportunities to grow as readers. In a virtual classroom, having physical books that students can hold, explore, and enjoy makes such a difference. These books help us create meaningful reading experiences that extend beyond the computer screen.\r\n\r\nAs we incorporate these chapter books into our reading instruction, students have opportunities to strengthen important literacy skills such as reading fluency, vocabulary development, comprehension, and making predictions. We can explore characters, discuss story events, make connections, and practice retelling what we have read. Chapter books also help students develop reading stamina as they learn to follow a story across multiple chapters. One of my favorite things about sharing books with young readers is helping them discover that reading isn't just something we do for school. It is something that can bring excitement, imagination, and joy into their lives!\r\n\r\nOur goal is to continue nurturing confident, independent readers who look forward to opening their next book. Thanks to your kindness, our students have more opportunities to experience the magic of reading, even while learning from home. Your support is helping us build not only stronger reading skills but also a lifelong love of books.","fullyFundedDate":1790775535847,"projectUrl":"project/lets-explore-book-series/10694576/","projectTitle":"Let's Explore Book Series!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chapple","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp648152_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1477599002522","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/misschapple"},{"teacherId":648152,"projectId":10364419,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our project, \"Bring Math to Life at Home!\" Your generosity has helped put hands-on math tools directly into the hands of my students, making learning more interactive and meaningful, even in our virtual classroom. Our new number bond paddles allow students to explore how numbers work together, practice composing and decomposing numbers, and develop a stronger understanding of addition and subtraction. Instead of simply watching me demonstrate a math concept on the screen, students can now actively participate using their own materials.\r\n\r\nOne of the greatest challenges of teaching virtually is finding ways to make learning hands-on. These paddles help bridge that gap! Students can use them during our live lessons to model number relationships, show their thinking, and share their answers with the class. They also give me a quick way to check for understanding and provide immediate feedback. Most importantly, these tools help students see that math is more than memorizing facts. It is about understanding how numbers connect and discovering different ways to solve problems.\r\n\r\nAs we continue building our addition and subtraction skills, these paddles will remain a valuable part of our daily math lessons. The number sense students develop now will provide a foundation for more challenging math concepts in the future.
