While reading, students are sharpening their individual fluency skills. Within a small group setting, they are exploring concepts of vocabulary, summarizing, main idea, supporting details, cause and effect, and more. \r\n\r\nStudents have most enjoyed tuning in to the wacky stories of Wayside School, wondering what the next silly student or teacher will say or do. They have learned about figurative language from the over-exaggerated events that take place throughout the novel.\r\n\r\nThe year has so much more to offer with the large selection of books from which we can now choose.
