The stress balls, fidget toys, soft peppermints, sanitizing wipes, and tissues were met with wide eyes and big smiles from our students—many of whom immediately asked, \"Are these really for us?\"\r\n\r\nWe used these resources to support our students during their EOG (End-of-Grade) exams, and the difference they made was truly remarkable. The stress balls and fidget toys provided a quiet and calming outlet for nervous energy, helping students stay grounded and focused during testing. Many students said the soft peppermints gave them a refreshing boost just when they needed it most. The wipes and tissues helped us keep a clean and healthy classroom environment, which minimized distractions and allowed everyone to focus on doing their best.\r\n\r\nOne moment that stood out was just before our first big testing session. As students entered the room, they each received a \"test success kit\" made from your donations. The room instantly shifted from tense to calm, and many students shared that they felt more prepared and cared for because of the little comforts included.\r\n\r\nNow that testing season is over, we're continuing to use these tools during independent reading and writing time to support student focus and emotional regulation. As we transition into our next unit on reflection and goal-setting, students are using these items to stay calm and centered during journaling and class discussions.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our students and creating a more focused, confident, and supported learning environment. Your kindness made a lasting impact!\r\n\r\nThe most sincere appreciation from the entire 6th Grade Class of SFCMS.","fullyFundedDate":1744597117801,"projectUrl":"project/encouragemint-for-the-eogs/9181779/","projectTitle":"Encourage\"MINT\" for the EOGs","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Valerie Israel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7034107_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1647093843263","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/valerieisrael"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_1406","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":430,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":48,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":53,"percentWhite":17,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":17,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":65.8,"schoolId":1406,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Seventy - First Classical Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Seventy - First Classical Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/cumberland-county-schools/seventy-first-classical-ms/1406"}
