We spent most of the time with Domenic asking scientific inquiry, biological connections and global empathy questions, like my students Axel and Nash. The boys were eager to settle the debate on speed, learning that the Patas monkey takes the title of fastest primate! Domenic helped clarify that while lemurs and monkeys are part of the primate family, the slow-moving lorises definitely aren't winning any races! Perhaps the most poignant moment was when Axel and Nash asked about the hardships in Madagascar. Domenic shared the sobering reality of the region where he worked, explaining how a lack of clean water, medical care, and food leads to widespread malnutrition. Hearing firsthand about the lack of basic necessities in Madagascar transformed a \"science lesson\" into a lesson on human rights and global responsibility. \r\nIn a school environment, we strive for lessons that stick, and these interactions delivered exactly that. The visit and our virtual sessions have left a permanent mark: Our students learned that no question is too big or too small—whether it's about the speed of a lemur or the welfare of a community thousands of miles away.\r\nThank you for providing the resources that allow us to bring experts like Domenic into our students' lives.
