When all the boxes of tricycles and helmets came in there was so much excitement. As my co-teacher and I began to open the boxes and put together the first tricycle all of the students were super interested and wanted to see how it worked. Once we got them put together and the helmets opened up it was time to ride!! \r\n\r\nWe were able to practice our riding skills before we participated in our Trike-A-Thon. This tricycle gave our students the opportunity to ride at school when they may not have that same opportunity at home. It builds gross motor skills and helps their brain develop. During the week leading up to the Trike-A-Thon we learned all about bike and trike safety as well as how to give back to others in need. Our students energy for this lesson was off the charts thanks to you!! \r\n\r\nTo finish off the week we got to showcase everything that they had learned. We learned that wearing your helmet is first priority, watching where you are going and being safe every time you ride is key. We also learned that there are lots of children who are sick and are just like our students and they cannot come to school because they are in the hospital. Our families raised $1200 to give to St. Jude so that families do not ever have to pay a bill for their child who is going through cancer treatments. We rode through our homemade bike wash to some amazing tunes with bubbles and cheers floating through the air!!
