During independent work time, students rush over to sit comfortably and work in a space that feels a little more homey than a sturdy desk. I've watched students pick up and read through books that have told me they haven't read a full book in years before taking my class. \r\n\r\nI truly believe that this space in the classroom has completely jolted the class environment into one that is welcoming, safe, and comfortable. This is something that would not have been made possible without your generous donation. It's heart warming to see it being used on a daily basis. As our second quarter begins, I have already began to run low on some of the necessities like deodorant, hair brushes, and hair ties, which I plan to keep restocking. Additionally, with the pause on SNAP benefits this month, the snack section of my shelf has been a blessing to a large handful of kids in my class. I keep this part stocked every day. \r\nI truly find that this hygiene center has created a space for students that feels safe, welcoming, and lets them know that they are cared for loudly. This could not have been done without people like you who have the heart to give to students they have never met. So for that, I thank you a thousand times over. It can never be put into words how grateful I and my students are for this incredible blessing and critical aspect to our school.","fullyFundedDate":1755628612719,"projectUrl":"project/fresh-start-bright-future/9594165/","projectTitle":"Fresh Start, Bright Future","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Graham","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10045956_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750935440127","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10045956"},{"teacherId":9215255,"projectId":8663257,"letterContent":"Your generous donations helped us to purchase a new Canon camera for our yearbook class and an Instax instant camera for journalism. \r\n\r\nThe Canon camera enabled multiple students to take pictures around campus and at school events. Before we purchased this, we only had one functioning camera and were only able to attend one event at a time. This meant that we were missing several campus events, specifically sporting events. As a student-led publication, it is imperative that all campus events are covered and that all student staff members have the opportunity to learn how to cover these events photographically.\r\n\r\nThe Instax camera will be especially helpful with my journalism class which begins this semester. My plan is to use this camera to teach the journalism students how to create an article and layout using photos by hand, rather that digitally, initially. I believe the tactile element will help students connect to the idea of information and photojournalism in a way that the digital cannot.","fullyFundedDate":1729708652418,"projectUrl":"project/making-high-school-headlines-matter/8663257/","projectTitle":"Making High School Headlines Matter!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rebecca Tyree","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9215255_orig.jpg?crop=916,916,x5,y537&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723745794407","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9215255"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_2220","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1151,"numTeachers":80,"percentFrplEligible":75,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":11,"percentWhite":62,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":19,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":80.4,"schoolId":2220,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Southern Alamance High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Southern Alamance High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/alamance-burlington-school-system/southern-alamance-high-school/2220"}
