We really focused on \"their story\" and \"I am\" poems. By creating conversations around everyday things we were able to brainstorm ideas.\r\n One of the first activities we did was to create a word of the year. We encourage the students to look back at these words periodically throughout the school year to keep them focused on their goals. \r\n A lot of the students are hungry, and we were able to use food as a way to create comfort and stimulate conversations.
