BUCKLE UP!\r\n\r\nI'll start with the most recent memory—the paint! Oh, the paint! What a huge success!\r\n\r\nPicture this: middle schoolers on a Friday... and it's Halloween. Yes, we had school. 😩\r\nSo what could possibly keep them calm? Watercolor paint!\r\n\r\nI printed out sugar skulls for Día de los Muertos, and they painted quietly for a full 30 minutes—across all nine sections I teach. Not even I, the seasoned teacher that I am 😉, can usually keep them that calm for so long! So with that, I say THANK YOU!\r\n\r\nOne student asked, \"So, Mrs. T., is this going to be every Friday?\"\r\nI said, \"Well, let's not get greedy! 😂 But I think it's definitely something we can do before our breaks.\"\r\n(Secretly, I want to paint every day. 😄)\r\n\r\nThe fidgets have been a hit in our \"living room\" space—a cozy area in the back of the classroom with mismatched comfy seating. Each day we start with a circle, discussing topics like weekend news, best friends, or sibling kindness. It's where we build community, and honestly, some of our most beautiful moments happen there.\r\n\r\nNow, the water dispenser... we've had limited floods, thankfully! The kids love refilling it because it gives them an excuse to leave class 😅. We use a little green snail watering can to fill it up—it's a tacky badge of honor to be the \"hydration hero.\" They do love their drinks... sometimes a little too much. #gottalovemiddleschool. But honestly, it's been a lifesaver—it keeps them in the classroom instead of running to the hall fountain!\r\n\r\nThe squishy tiles have become a favorite free-time activity (that precious 3–5 minutes at the end of class).\r\n\r\nThe headphones have come in handy during ISS (yes, I have In-School Suspension duty every 7th period 😬). They've been great for helping students regulate and refocus, along with the fidgets.\r\n\r\nThe snacks have been a huge hit in our PBIS store! Students earn digital points and can \"buy\" snacks as rewards—talk about motivation!\r\n\r\nNow, the singing bowl... I know it's meant for calm meditation, but it's turned into a tool for motivation. When students are slow to transition to their next class, I give the bowl a ring and—voilà—they start moving! 😂\r\n\r\nWe used the pipe cleaners and pony beads to make regulation bracelets, and the students loved it. One student wore hers until it fell apart, and others made extras for their siblings.\r\n\r\nAs for dry erase markers—I swear the kids must be eating them! I'm beyond grateful for an endless supply.\r\n\r\nAnd the glue? Stay tuned... we'll be using that soon!\r\n\r\nI can't thank you all enough for your generosity. It was such a treat to have the Safety Team deliver the boxes to my classroom. They gave me a little sass, but I quickly reminded them (with a smile), \"Hey, these are donations for the kids—over $800 worth of supplies! So quit complaining!\" 😄 I also bragged about how the project was funded by about 17 donors in less than a month! YOU ALL ARE AMAZING!\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you for supporting our students and helping make our classroom such a joyful, creative space!","fullyFundedDate":1755456584171,"projectUrl":"project/tools-for-tranquility/9473882/","projectTitle":"Tools for Tranquility","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tario","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9741933_orig.jpg?crop=481,481,x0,y9&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752764552697","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9741933"},{"teacherId":3508571,"projectId":5994256,"letterContent":"Your generosity has helped students that have challenges ignoring distractions, negative peer comments and other environmental noises due to their disabilities.
