With their general education peers, students are working on their confidence in reading the books out loud.\r\n Unified groups (students with and without disabilities together) are working together on the skills needed to read a book to a group. This includes reading at a volume that they can be heard, as well as holding up the book to display the pages and illustrations to the listeners.\r\n Our next step will be to work with the Special Olympics Unified Young reader program materials that go along with our purchased books. My students will learn about which questions to ask as they lead elementary students in an activity related to the book.\r\n Our goal for the spring is to go into inclusive elementary classrooms and to be guest readers in classrooms and lead discussions and activities to promote inclusion and acceptance.
