Our club creates an environment of collaboration and camaraderie among students of many different grades and social groups. It gives them a space to hang out and be productive and be themselves in school. It enables them to meet new people, discover new interests, and feel like they are part of building something new (both based on the fact that they are building Legos, and that they are part of a burgeoning new club and have influence on which Legos sets we select).\r\n\r\nIt is essential that kids have their brains engaged while in school and are able to interact with their peers in positive ways. It is also important that there is a space for kids who may not be the most athletic or socially outgoing type. Lego Club allows them to be social in their own way and has helped a lot of kids open up and show their strengths to both me and their peers. None of this would be possible without the generous donations of donors like you. The students will not forget it; they were as enthusiastic about writing the thank you notes as building the Legos (well, almost). See the attached photos to see examples of them hard at work! We have had a strong start to the year and the textbooks have been invaluable to their growth. Following a hands on in person lesson in school, the students have reading and practice problems assigned from the textbook at night. These readings and exercises support and formalize the learning experiences we have each day. \r\n\r\nBy each student having their own copy of the textbook, kids are able to interact with it in meaningful ways. Students can highlight, underline, and notate at will since they don't need to worry about returning the book at the end of the year. Additionally, the text has guided practice problems for each section where the students can immediately practice what they are learning. The solutions to these practice problems are in the footnotes so kids can get immediate feedback on their developing understandings. With this feedback, they can then reread to correct their mistakes, watch a video on AP Classroom, or follow up with me with very detailed questions about the help they need. \r\n\r\nThese books are helping my students grow into independent learners as they develop skills that they will be able to take with them into their post-secondary endeavors. They are learning how to use the text as a valuable tool to aid them as they move through the course. \r\n\r\n(They also love the multicolored pens for note taking and in-class work!)","fullyFundedDate":1755785799232,"projectUrl":"project/annotating-to-ap-statistics-success/9585336/","projectTitle":"Annotating to Ap Statistics Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Hansan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kent-hansan"},{"teacherId":2279598,"projectId":8383037,"letterContent":"Our fourth annual free book fair (May 2025) was a smashing success--we gave away over 600 books to 300+ students!
