Throughout this celebratory project my students were able to use all of the materials and treats to be creative and construct their own gingerbread house that they could later take home. For many of them, this was their first time ever making a gingerbread house from scratch. Their smiles were glowing the entire time! They enjoyed sharing each of their creations with each other and other teachers around the school. The result of each individual house was truly incredible and unique! I loved being able to see their individuality shine through with these projects. And of course I allowed them to eat some of the extra treats as well!\r\n\r\nBecause of you, I was able to throw my students a celebratory party that they will never forget! This opportunity truly meant the world to my students. October we had a breakfast month: pancakes, crepes, and french toast. November was pasta month with several different sauces and even making our own pasta. Now, we are nearing the holidays in December with a cookie theme this month.\r\n\r\nAll the supplies you have given allow us to have over 20 students cooking all together as they build a cookbook of recipes we have learned together. Because of you, I'm able to turn an empty classroom into a space full of possibility, creativity, and connection — and I truly couldn't have done it without your help.\r\nThis year is a fresh start in so many ways — a new school, a brand-new 7th grade Social Studies classroom, and a vision to make learning come alive through both academic exploration and creative expression. Thanks to your donation, I now have the essential materials to begin building that vision: sketchbooks, drawing supplies, and tools that will not only support engaging Social Studies lessons, but also fuel my students' passion for storytelling and self-expression through our comic book art club.\r\nWhat I love most about teaching 7th grade is witnessing students step into who they're becoming — curious, thoughtful, eager to understand the world and share their place in it. With your support, I can create a classroom that welcomes them to do just that. Your kindness is already making a difference, and your belief in my students and their potential means more than I can say.\r\nFrom all of us — thank you for helping us start this school year with joy, creativity, and inspiration.","fullyFundedDate":1758898844485,"projectUrl":"project/new-year-new-school-new-grade/9624467/","projectTitle":"New Year, New School, New Grade!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. DeFeo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8811945_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1668005755762","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/missdefeo"},{"teacherId":6284318,"projectId":8845780,"letterContent":"You have helped open up a world of dystopian literature for our students. They have had the opportunity to learn about the world through stories, but also to sharpen their skills in analyzing themes and understanding author's craft. They have read, taken notes, discussed in book clubs, and written essays and critical New York Times-style book reviews. Last week, we wrapped up our unit with a publishing party featuring a real editor from a sci-fi and fantasy publisher. The students were so proud of their work and the visiting parents were so impressed. All of this is thanks to your generous donation!
