The CZUR document scanner has made it easy for students to digitize essays, research projects, scripts, costume sketches, set designs, and other creative work that might otherwise remain tucked away in classroom folders. Instead of simply turning in an assignment and moving on, students can now save their work digitally, revisit it later, and see how their skills and ideas have developed over time.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting possibilities has been using the scanner to begin building digital portfolios of student work. For students at a performing arts high school, these portfolios can capture both their academic and creative accomplishments and give them materials they can share with families, teachers, colleges, internships, and summer programs. Students especially enjoy seeing their handwritten and artistic work transformed into clean digital copies that feel permanent and professional.\r\n\r\nThis technology is also helping us preserve the history of our classroom. Outstanding projects, thoughtful historical analysis, original scripts, artwork, and collaborative creations can now become examples for future students rather than disappearing at the end of the semester. Your support has allowed us to honor the enormous amount of effort our students put into their work and to ensure that their creativity, growth, and accomplishments can live far beyond the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1783343264854,"projectUrl":"project/digitizing-our-learning-journey-help-us/10311877/","projectTitle":"Digitizing Our Learning Journey: Help Us Archive Student Work","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Weissman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2371583_orig.png?crop=1069,1069,x452,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1596384547047","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/weissman"},{"teacherId":2371583,"projectId":10285779,"letterContent":"Thanks to your support, our students have been able to experience history in a completely new way. The 3D printer filament has allowed us to create replica historical artifacts that students can actually hold, examine, and analyze in class. Instead of only looking at an image of a coin, sculpture, tool, monument, or architectural structure on a screen, students can study a physical object from multiple angles, notice small details, ask questions, and use those observations as evidence. This has made our history classroom feel much more like a museum or archaeology lab and has helped students better understand how historians learn about the past.\r\n\r\nWhat has been especially exciting for students is watching an artifact go from a digital model to a real object they can interact with. Students are naturally curious about the 3D printing process, and that curiosity often carries directly into the historical investigation that follows. The replicas have been particularly valuable for students who learn best through visual and hands-on experiences, giving them another way to access material that can sometimes feel distant or abstract in a textbook.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this project has encouraged students to approach history as investigators rather than simply as readers. They are practicing close observation, asking stronger questions, interpreting physical evidence, and thinking about what objects can reveal about the people and societies that created them. Thank you for helping us bring the past to life and for giving our students opportunities to learn history through exploration, curiosity, and discovery.","fullyFundedDate":1783343291230,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-history-to-life-with-3d-printed/10285779/","projectTitle":"Bringing History to Life With 3D Printed Artifacts","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Weissman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2371583_orig.png?crop=1069,1069,x452,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1596384547047","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/weissman"},{"teacherId":2371583,"projectId":10300076,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom! Your generosity has helped us create a more organized, efficient, and welcoming learning environment. We are using our new storage cabinet to keep frequently used classroom materials—including paper, project supplies, writing materials, and other shared resources—organized and protected. Instead of losing valuable class time searching for supplies or replacing materials that have been misplaced, students can now quickly find what they need and get right to work.\r\n\r\nMy students immediately noticed the difference the cabinet made in our classroom. Having a dedicated space for our materials has made everyday routines smoother and has helped students take greater responsibility for using and returning shared supplies. Whether students are working independently, collaborating on a group activity, or completing a hands-on project, the resources they need are now much easier to access. It may seem like a simple addition, but in a busy classroom, that organization makes a real difference.\r\n\r\nAs we move through the school year, students will continue using these materials for projects, writing activities, discussions, and creative learning experiences across our curriculum. Instead of only reading about ancient civilizations and historical cultures in textbooks, students are now designing and printing replicas of real historical artifacts that they can physically hold, examine, and analyze. The technology has helped turn history into an active, hands-on learning experience. Students are researching artifacts, studying their historical significance, and thinking critically about how objects can tell stories about the people who created and used them.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students has been watching their digital designs become real objects right in front of them. Every completed print feels like a small discovery. Students have been especially excited to create replicas of coins, tools, statues, and cultural artifacts connected to the civilizations we study in class. The printer has sparked conversations, creativity, and collaboration in ways I had not anticipated. Students who are usually hesitant to participate have eagerly volunteered to help troubleshoot prints, research artifacts, and explain the process to classmates.\r\n\r\nA few students in particular have truly connected with this technology. Some of my most hands-on and creative learners have become leaders in the classroom during these projects. One student who rarely spoke during class discussions became deeply invested in recreating artifacts from Ancient Egypt and proudly presented his finished model to the class. Another student discovered an interest in 3D design and engineering through learning how to prepare files for printing. Your generosity has not only helped students learn history in a deeper way, but also introduced them to technology and creative skills that could shape their future paths.","fullyFundedDate":1778031106872,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-history-3d-printing-artifacts/9961712/","projectTitle":"Hands-On History: 3D Printing Artifacts for Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Weissman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2371583_orig.png?crop=1069,1069,x452,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1596384547047","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/weissman"},{"teacherId":10396663,"projectId":9982466,"letterContent":"The donation of Cafe con Leche had a meaningful impact on our book club community. The book has helped students explore themes of identity, culture, family, and belonging while also strengthening important literacy skills such as comprehension, inference, and discussion-based learning. The text has created opportunities for students to make connections between their own lives and the experiences of the characters, which has increased engagement and participation during our book club discussions.\r\n\r\nReading in our book club is highly interactive. Students read independently and then come together once a week to discuss the book and how they relate to the story. Since our club is centered around reading for enjoyment rather than academic assessment, students are often more open and enthusiastic during conversations. Many enjoy discussing the characters' perspectives and comparing them to their own experiences, families, and communities.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who are sometimes hesitant readers have shown particular enthusiasm for Cafe con Leche. Because the story feels authentic and relatable, these students have become more willing to participate in discussions and share personal reflections. As soon as the kits arrived, students gathered around our worktable, excited to learn how to restring, polish, and adjust the guitars they've been practicing on all year. One of our beginners carefully changed their first set of strings and proudly strummed a clean, bright chord that rang through the room. Moments like that are exactly why this project matters so much.\r\n\r\nWith these new resources, we've launched a rotating \"guitar tech\" workshop where students learn the basics of maintenance: tightening hardware, conditioning fretboards, cleaning electronics, and diagnosing small issues before they become major repairs. Not only are our guitars playing better than they have in years, but students are also developing confidence and practical skills that extend beyond music. They're beginning to understand that caring for an instrument is part of being a musician, and they're taking pride in making our shared equipment performance-ready for rehearsals and open-mic showcases.\r\n\r\nYour support has opened the door to new musical possibilities. Students are now preparing for a collaborative recording project, and having well-maintained instruments means they can focus on tone, creativity, and expression.
