When the students first saw the colorful sets, there was a collective rush of curiosity as they began clicking the pieces together to explore how they connected. It transformed the atmosphere of the room into a hands-on workshop, with students immediately eager to build and create. Seeing their enthusiasm for a math-related resource was a wonderful moment that set a positive tone for our upcoming units.\r\n\r\nWe have been using these blocks as a primary tool to move from abstract numbers to a concrete understanding. During a recent lesson on volume, students worked in small groups to construct rectangular prisms, physically stacking the blocks to see how layers create space. One particularly impactful moment occurred when students realized they could \"disassemble\" the volume to see the area of the base. This tactile experience has been a game-changer for those who typically struggle with two-dimensional diagrams, as they can now literally hold the math in their hands.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, the next steps involve using the blocks to master arrays and more complex area models. The students are preparing to \"design\" their own modular floor plans, where they must use the blocks to demonstrate specific mathematical requirements for different rooms. This project will help reinforce their multiplication and spatial reasoning skills. Your support has provided the bridge these students needed to turn difficult concepts into something they can visualize and master with confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1776736397891,"projectUrl":"project/math-with-magnets/10206888/","projectTitle":"Math with Magnets","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Ellman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9076253_orig.png?crop=620,620,x350,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690763310062","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9076253"},{"teacherId":129713,"projectId":9859607,"letterContent":"Thank you so very much. The balls that came are so colorful so there is no chance of them getting lost in our schoolyard which is helpful for our lunchaides. \r\nWe also appreciate the ice machine. The ice machine comes in handy when the kiddos get a bump or ouchie that needs some TLC. We now can get a small bag of ice to help with those times. \r\nThese items may seem little to some but they make a big impact on our recess time. Your kindness has directly and positively impacted the daily lives of my students in our self-contained special education classroom.\r\n\r\nThe thermal printer and shipping labels have already become essential tools for creating differentiated visual supports that students are using to create their own notes in their math notebooks I am also able to create clear, durable labels for bins and personalized visual schedules for each student. This allows my learners to navigate their day with much greater independence and confidence, as they can now identify exactly where their materials belong and what is coming next in their routine.\r\n\r\nFurthermore, the floor rocker and director's chair have transformed our learning zones. Many of my students have unique sensory needs, and having seating options that allow for subtle movement or a different physical perspective has drastically improved their ability to remain regulated and focused during lessons. Seeing a student finally feel \"settled\" and ready to engage because they have the right chair is a wonderful gift.\r\n\r\nBecause of your contribution, our classroom is now a more organized, inclusive, and welcoming sanctuary. The new resources you provided such as the job chart, calendar bulletin board paper and border, and headphoneshave had an incredible impact on my students and our learning environment. The job chart has helped my students develop a sense of responsibility and routine, as they eagerly take on different classroom tasks each week. The calendar bulletin board, with its colorful and engaging design, has made learning about dates, days of the week, and months so much more interactive. My students love moving the cards and practicing their calendar skills daily.\r\n\r\nWhen the new headphones arrived, my students were thrilled! They immediately noticed the difference in sound quality during independent learning sessions, especially when listening to educational videos and audio-based activities (iReady). This small change has allowed them to focus better and engage more deeply with the content. I've also noticed that having the headphones has minimized distractions, creating a more peaceful learning atmosphere.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, my students are excited to continue using these materials in our current project. We're working on a collaborative unit about community helpers, and the job chart is a perfect tool to assign roles and responsibilities as they create presentations. They're also using the calendar to track important dates for their research and presentations. These new resources have not only enhanced their learning but also made them more excited and invested in their education. The carpet we received was damaged. It took a bit to get it sent back. In the meantime my school ordered a rug for me. DonorsChoose advised me to choose replacement items that my class could use. I was able to get magnetic writing tablets so I can model writing for my students and they can share in writing with the class. This is working out great. I also received color ink for our classroom printer. This helps me print color materials for our centers in both reading and math. Another item we got was laminating sheets. It's especially helpful for visual learners and younger students, who connect more easily with colorful images and charts.\r\nThe new carpet may not seem like technology, but it's had a huge effect on the classroom environment. It creates a warm, inviting space where students feel comfortable gathering for group lessons, reading, or quiet work. It's helped foster a stronger sense of community and focus during instruction.\r\n\r\nYes! One student who typically struggles to stay engaged during writing has become much more enthusiastic because they know their finished stories will be printed in color and shared on the classroom wall. That visual payoff has become a big motivator.\r\nWe also have a few students who feel overwhelmed by traditional desks and chairs—having the option to work on the carpet has helped them stay calm and focused. This project has truly made a remarkable difference in our classroom and in the lives of our students. Thanks to your kindness, literacy instruction has taken a whole new turn—and the results have been truly inspiring.\r\n\r\nSince implementing the resources and tools provided by this project, we've seen tremendous growth in our students' ability to recognize letters, understand their corresponding sounds, and begin to segment and blend words. These foundational skills are critical for early readers, and your support has allowed us to give our students the strong start they need.\r\n\r\nWhat's been most exciting to witness is the confidence that's blooming in each child. Many of our students started the year struggling to identify letters or feeling unsure when trying to sound out words. Now, they're raising their hands with excitement during phonics lessons, participating eagerly in small reading groups, and applying what they've learned to their writing with pride.\r\n\r\nSegmenting words—a skill that can be especially tricky for young learners—has become something they look forward to. With engaging materials, hands-on activities, and consistent practice, they've learned to break words into individual sounds, and then blend them together to read or spell. This progress didn't happen overnight, but with persistence and the right resources, they've made amazing strides.\r\n\r\nWe're seeing the results across all areas of literacy. Students are reading more fluently, writing with greater independence, and showing a deeper understanding of how language works. They're also enjoying books more and making meaningful connections between reading and the world around them. It's not just about learning to read anymore—it's about becoming confident, joyful, and capable readers and writers.\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just fund materials—it sparked curiosity, joy, and a love for learning. You've helped create a classroom environment where students feel supported, empowered, and excited to learn each day. The ripple effect of that will continue far beyond this school year.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of all of us—especially the children whose lives you've touched—thank you. Your generosity has made a lasting impact, and we couldn't be more grateful. The transformation we've seen wouldn't have been possible without you. Because of your support, our students are better equipped for success, and they're developing skills that will serve them for a lifetime.","fullyFundedDate":1741569397816,"projectUrl":"project/tools-for-engaging-learning-literacy/9146010/","projectTitle":"Tools for Engaging Learning & Literacy!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Brancato","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7612299"},{"teacherId":2665300,"projectId":8972729,"letterContent":"Your generous donation has made a real impact in our classroom!
