There are times when we need to quiet them down or ask them to give another child an opportunity to talk/express themselves . The Dream Team- my boys this year are no exception. They are curious and often chatty about anything they wonder about. There are however a couple of boys that are on the Autism Spectrum and cannot communicate effectively. One is non verbal and the other has difficulty with the mechanics of speech and verbalization. The voice recorder and language prompt boxes are told that enable them to form words or repeat them. The mirrored recorder allows them to see their mouths form words and mimic the teachers, while hearing themselves. \r\n The recorders help them repeat simple phrases allowing basic understanding of everyday words. The boys have a ways to go and will need a more sophisticated version of these tools, but these recorders have given them an awesome start . Because if this grant these boys are communicating affectively, on a basic level but effectively. Thank you for giving my boys a voice. You just cannot imagine what the the gift of communication means to all of us . The other boys also rejoice hearing their classmate speak and express himself. This grant has affected moral, unity and communication. It's been a life spring experience Thanks to Your Generosity. \r\n\r\nAbundant Blessings To You.","fullyFundedDate":1736793644274,"projectUrl":"project/look-whos-talkingwith-your-help/8920410/","projectTitle":"Look Who's Talking...With Your Help","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. CARMONA","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp112880_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1579988738390","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/112880"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_430","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":790,"numTeachers":76,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":15,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":62,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.0,"schoolId":430,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about PS 47 John Randolph on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"PS 47 John Randolph","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/ps-47-john-randolph/430"}
