Because of your donation, our students have been given an incredible opportunity to continue exploring the arts in meaningful and hands-on ways. We are truly grateful for your kindness and belief in our scholars.\r\n\r\nAfter the success of last year's production of Disney's The Lion King, our students were eager to take on a new challenge. This year, they are thrilled to step into A Whole New World through our production of Disney's Aladdin. Your donated materials, especially the fabric, have played a vital role in helping us bring the magical city of Agrabah to life and in supporting our students throughout the creative process.\r\n\r\nThe fabric you provided has allowed our students to actively participate in the creation of their costumes. Rather than simply wearing pre-made pieces, students are involved in designing, cutting, assembling, and decorating costume elements that reflect their characters. This hands-on experience has helped students feel a strong sense of ownership and pride in the production. Seeing themselves on stage in costumes they helped create has been empowering and deeply meaningful for them.\r\n\r\nBeyond the visual impact on stage, these materials have supported important learning outcomes. Students have practiced collaboration, problem-solving, and creative thinking as they worked together to plan and create costume pieces. They have learned how color, texture, and design help tell a story and bring characters to life. For many students, this process has boosted confidence and encouraged them to take creative risks in a supportive environment.\r\n\r\nThe impact of your donation extends far beyond the performance itself. Musical theatre provides students with a space to express themselves, build confidence, and develop a sense of belonging. Because of your support, our students feel valued and inspired, knowing that others believe in their talents and creativity. The excitement and motivation your generosity has brought to rehearsals is truly visible each day.\r\n\r\nOur production of Aladdin has become more than just a show—it is a collaborative learning experience that our students will remember for years to come. Your donation has helped transform this production into something truly special and has allowed our students to shine both on and off the stage.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and support. We are incredibly appreciative of the role you have played in helping our students grow, create, and share their talents with our school community.","fullyFundedDate":1760693704945,"projectUrl":"project/bring-a-whole-new-world-to-brooklyn-a/9579605/","projectTitle":"Bring \"a Whole New World\" to Brooklyn: Aladdin Materials Needed!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Striano","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10171247_orig.jpg?crop=608,608,x126,y71&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756513276236","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10171247"},{"teacherId":10171247,"projectId":9660145,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity and support of our school's theatre program. We are truly grateful for your donation and for the time, care, and thought you put into helping our students succeed. Your kindness makes a meaningful difference, and we could not be more thankful.\r\n\r\nThe supplies you donated will play a huge role in helping our actors and actresses fully transform into their characters. The face paint and sponges will allow students to look the part as they step into the world of Aladdin. Being able to visually become their character helps students feel more confident, engaged, and committed to their roles. Watching their excitement as they imagine how the face paint will complete their costumes has been truly heartwarming.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the art supplies you donated will be used to build props and create our sets. These materials give students the opportunity to be hands-on in the creative process, helping them design and construct pieces that will appear on stage. From painting backdrops to crafting props, these supplies allow students to collaborate, problem-solve, and take pride in knowing they helped create the world of the show. Seeing their ideas turn into real stage elements is an incredibly powerful experience for them.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting donations has been the lamp prop. The moment students saw it, their faces lit up with joy. The lamp is such an iconic part of Aladdin, and having a realistic prop makes the story feel real to our performers. The students are absolutely thrilled to use it on stage, and it has already sparked excitement and motivation during rehearsals.\r\n\r\nYour donation does so much more than provide supplies. It helps build confidence, creativity, and teamwork among our students. It allows them to feel supported, valued, and proud of their work. Because of you, our students are able to fully immerse themselves in this production and create something truly special.\r\nThank you again for your generosity and for believing in our students. These texts have not only strengthened students' reading skills but also fostered empathy, inclusion, and engagement.\r\n\r\nOne of the most important lessons introduced by these books is empathy. The Wild Robot encourages students to think deeply about kindness, adaptation, and what it means to belong. Roz's journey helps students understand that differences—whether physical, emotional, or cultural—are not weaknesses but strengths. Similarly, Save Me a Seat explores friendship, bullying, and cultural identity through the perspectives of two very different students. These themes have led to rich discussions about inclusion, respect, and standing up for others. Students are developing skills such as perspective-taking, critical thinking, and social-emotional awareness, which are essential both in and out of the classroom.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is interactive and supportive. Students engage in shared reading, small-group discussions, partner talk, and independent reading time. These different approaches ensured that every student, regardless of ability or language background, feels confident participating in reading activities.\r\n\r\nThese books have been especially impactful for students and many of my English Language learners connected strongly with Save Me a Seat, particularly with Ravi's experiences as a new student navigating a different culture. Many ELL students have shared personal connections to Ravi's challenges, which has increased their confidence in speaking, writing, and participating in class discussions. \r\n\r\nOverall, The Wild Robot and Save Me a Seat have enriched our classroom by creating a more inclusive, empathetic, and motivated community of readers. These texts have proven to be powerful tools in supporting diverse learners and fostering a love of reading for all students.","fullyFundedDate":1758899164566,"projectUrl":"project/reading-is-a-passport-to-countless-adven/9480814/","projectTitle":"Reading Is a Passport to Countless Adventures","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Montgomery","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1541846_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y201&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1705978608573","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1541846"},{"teacherId":44041,"projectId":9544307,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your kindness and your generousity and helping us obtain a new laptop computer for our classroom. The students in my room are 5-7 years old and are all severely autistic. When they came in to our class in September we had very few materials. It was incredibly hard to occupy them, let alone teach them anything academic.\r\nWith the help of your donations, we have been able to start exposing them to ELA centers and curriculum. Our students enjoy using the letter foam stringing activity as it also helps them with their fine motor skills. They also love the texture of the foam shapes and some of them even explore the texture by putting it in their mouths. Since the letters are foam, they can't ruin them or break them. It has been such an asset to our classroom. In addition, the ABC monkey activity has been lots of fun for them to play with. Some of the children are now able to start working on spelling their names and are beginning to recognize letters of the alphabet as well. The monkeys are very colorful which always makes them an exciting activity to engage in. Lastly, the stretchy tube connectors are a really big hit!
