I wanted to share a quick update on how your generosity has transformed our learning.\r\n\r\nThe math manipulatives you funded have completely revolutionized our math block! We recently used the counting bears and linking cubes to tackle early addition and subtraction concepts. Instead of just looking at numbers on a worksheet, students physically linked the cubes together to solve problems, like \"If we have 3 cubes and add 2 more, how many do we have?\" This hands-on learning is making abstract math concrete and fun, truly strengthening their understanding of these core concepts.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes of colorful new materials arrived, the students were absolutely buzzing! Their eyes lit up, and they immediately wanted to know what all the new \"toys\" were for. The materials have increased engagement during math time because the students are excited to use them!\r\n\r\nWe recently started using the pattern blocks. My students love creating colorful pictures, and more importantly, they are learning how to decompose shapes (breaking them into smaller parts) which directly relates to how we decompose numbers like 5 or 6. This is a critical, abstract connection they are now making concretely.\r\n\r\nThe counting bears and unifix cubes are essential for building number sense. We use them to model \"how many more\" or \"how many less,\" and we actively build \"stairs\" with the unifix cubes. This simple act solidifies their understanding that each successive number is one unit greater--a foundational concept!\r\n\r\nThe timer has been an unexpected hit! We use it to help pace our lessons, and my students love to \"race against the 2-minute timer\" to write their name and date. Their speed has increased tremendously; they were once taking upwards of 5 minutes, but now they are consistently beating the timer, which is a huge confidence booster.\r\n\r\nWe recently introduced the Rekenrek for skip counting and counting on, and the two-colored counters are perfect for visually representing different ways to decompose the numbers 5 and 6.\r\n\r\nYour donation has made a genuine, tangible difference in our classroom.
