This was our first year participating in the Girl's Volleyball League. Our first games were losses. To say that we are proud of how far these young women have come is an un understatement. \r\nMany girls on our roster are moving on to middle school but they are leaving with a fire in their belly and a passion for volleyball. My students were so excited and grateful to receive these \"gifts\" as they called them. They truly felt loved.\r\n\r\nFor the remainder of the school year we are going to use the modeling clay for our reading challenge rewards. All students will get to create something with the clay and then take a few packs home to make something at home with their families. \r\n\r\nThank you to everyone who took the time to read this project and donated to get it funded. As the school librarian, there are many students in and out of the library daily and classes I teach all day. It's important for the library to be kept clean and germ free as best as possible.\r\n\r\nThe materials from this project have allowed all of us to develop a routine for the last ten minutes of class where we clean the tables, our hands with the baby wipes and wipe down any of the play doh toys and magna tiles if used. The materials from this project has given my students more ownership over the room, they are more responsible and even more independent. This all leads to an increase in self confidence and a more joy filled environment. \r\n\r\nWhen I showed the students all of the beautiful bins and book displays, they wanted to help set them up right away and that was a nice way to collaborate and ensure they would be responsible for the materials we received.\r\n\r\nWe started organizing our bins by book series and using the book stands to highlight our favorite read aloud books for Black History Month.
