These phonics games directly align with their needs to blend words, read site words, and build their English proficiency.\r\n\r\nStudents fell in love with the activities because as first graders, they enjoy and greatly benefit from hands on activities. Because of these phonics games, students' confidence has been building in reading as well as their ability to speak English. They cannot wait to start WIN period, knowing they can play and learn at the same time. I remember one of my students who said he can't read come up to me and excitedly read me words from one of the phonics activity. Students even get creative and build other words using the materials from the phonics activities. These games have helped build more camaraderie in our classroom as students love playing together and helping each other read.\r\n\r\nThe next step for Class 109 is to continue building their confidence and proficiency when it comes to reading in English, as reading concepts get more complex.
