Seeing students recognize and verbalize how these tools support their emotions was an incredibly powerful moment.\r\n\r\nWe use these resources daily to build empathy, self-regulation, and compassion. During read-alouds and classroom discussions, students use sensory tools to help manage emotions and stay engaged while we explore stories focused on kindness and perspective-taking. Creative materials such as markers, pens, and cardstock allow students to reflect on emotions and acts of kindness through drawings, writing, and collaborative projects. Students proudly display their work using clips and hooks, reinforcing a sense of ownership, pride, and shared responsibility within our classroom community.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue strengthening these skills through kindness-focused activities and reflection projects, including sharing examples of empathy they observe in others. These materials are also shared across the first-grade team, giving students consistent opportunities to practice emotional regulation and collaboration throughout the day.
