Your contribution has helped these young wonderful students learn the power of their choice, words, and actions.\r\nI used the donated snack items to fill a snack cart that is managed by the students. Each month, a different class manages the cart. There is a cashier, cart stocker, cart cleaner, inventory manager, sales recorder, and staff recorder. Each student is in charge of a specific aspect of the cart. \r\nTwice a day, students are called to come to the cart and make a purchase. They bring their own money and use it to exchange it for a snack. Non verbal users can use pre-recorded buttons or their own AAC devices to manage the communication. After each class has come through, the students managing the cart goes through the inventory and carts it.\r\nEver since I started the cart, the students (and staff!) look forward to making their purchases. In addition, the students have a broader access to food. When some students cannot bring money in, staff members have reached into their own pockets and bought them snacks. \r\nWith the money brought in by the cart, I am going to purchase exciting things for the students to take part in. Some ideas include a pretzel cart (complete with fun things to put in top), breakfast cart, and fruit cart. Other purchases can include jewelry making and t-shirt dyeing.\r\nAgain, thank you for your generous donation. My students will have a richer and fuller experience thanks to your help.","fullyFundedDate":1763481783279,"projectUrl":"project/join-the-snack-attack/9870678/","projectTitle":"Join the Snack Attack!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sam","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8799795_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y386&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751047260431","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/sharron"},{"teacherId":8799795,"projectId":9548818,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation. With your contribution, my students were able to hone into their creative side by taking pictures with the cameras, sculpt with clay, and paint on an easel and on canvases. \r\nThe students were each given a camera and free reign to take any pictures they wanted. We went on hallway walks and were encouraged to walk around their classroom to take pictures of anything they wanted. With this lesson, we were able to see through their eyes. Many of our children don't interact with the world the way most people do. With their cameras, students took pictures of things they found interesting. In addition, students were encouraged to take a look around them and notice all the colors, shapes, and wonders the world has to offer.\r\nThe next lesson had the students taking portraits of each other. This activity helped promote social awareness, eye contact, and shared attention. Students were paired up and alternated between taking a photo and posing for one. With this exercise, we were again able to see the world through their eyes.\r\nThe sculpting stations helped the students get creative with their hands and minds. They were encouraged to sculpt anything they wanted with any tool they wanted. Many students opted to use the fine sculpting tools provided and make tiny details on their creations. Other students wanted to work with just their hands and manipulate the clay and make big shapes. Most students were never exposed to clay and sculpting tools before. This activity helped the students with their fine motor skills and helped to stimulate their creative sides.\r\nFinally, the students were able to be creative with their easels and canvases. They mixed colors, swirled the paint brush around, and explored another medium of art they don't get to experience very often.\r\nThese art materials helped these young children explore a variety of creative outlets. With these skills unlocked, these students can feel confident and give them a more well rounded educational experience. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to provide meaningful and motivating materials for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1758899307766,"projectUrl":"project/art-sculpting-and-photography-oh-my/9548818/","projectTitle":"Art, Sculpting, and Photography, Oh My!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sam","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8799795_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y386&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751047260431","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/sharron"},{"teacherId":3501458,"projectId":9307495,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of my project, \"Balance, Bounce, and Build: Gross Motor Fun for Everyone.\" Your contributions have already made a meaningful difference in my classroom.
