Don’t underestimate the power of books. Books can be used to connect to a multitude of subjects across content. I plan to use these books to teach content across various subjects to build skills such as comprehension, compare and contrast, identify details, sequencing, etc. After taking a Using Literature in Math course and viewing the benefits of integrating picture books into math lessons and how it facilitates learning and retention of strategies and information across content, I would like to implement this into my classroom. My students love reading. They require large texts and visuals. Having this big book set will be so helpful for them to engage in the story. Furthermore, the models included in the set will make the concepts and scenes more concrete to the students if they physically see it happening. The Flex Space Balls will be beneficial in meeting sensory needs of students who have difficulty sitting for long periods.
