As a teacher, I am fortunate to work with bright, curious, and wonderfully diverse students who come to school each day ready to explore and discover especially when it comes to mathematics. Your generosity has played an essential role in helping us create a learning environment where every child feels seen, supported, and inspired. One of my goals has been to build a rich classroom library filled with books that help students connect with learning in meaningful ways. \r\n\r\nThe math-related books you donated have quickly become some of our most treasured resources. These books have allowed students to see the world through the lens of mathematics, helping them understand that math is not just a subject we study, but a way of thinking and interpreting the world around us. Many students have shared how these stories and ideas have sparked their imagination, encouraged them to ask new questions, and inspired them to think more creatively about the problems they encounter in and out of the classroom. In addition to the books, the mathematical tools you provided, including posters, slider boards, and hands-on materials, have had a tremendous impact on our daily learning. These tools have supported students during small-group instruction, giving them opportunities to explore concepts at their own pace and in ways that feel engaging and accessible. \r\n\r\nAs our classroom continues to grow in diversity and curiosity, I remain committed to meeting the needs of all students and helping them find success whether in small, everyday moments or in ways that grow into lifelong skills. Your support has helped create an environment where students not only learn mathematics, but also develop confidence, resilience, and a deeper sense of belonging. Thank you again for supporting our classroom, our students, and their futures. Your generosity has made a lasting difference, and we are truly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1758898997479,"projectUrl":"project/math-diversity-and-discovery-empoweri/9679577/","projectTitle":"Math, Diversity, and Discovery: Empowering Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ryu","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10037651"},{"teacherId":3309836,"projectId":9062811,"letterContent":"Again, I am so grateful for your generosity. I don't think we can necessarily \"teach\" kids to love reading, however we can guide and encourage them. Half the battle is having the right books. Trends and what is popular is shifting constantly, so therefore keeping a classroom library relevant and interesting to students can be a challenge and a financial expense. When we are able to have engaging, exciting books around the classroom and constantly having them available, it excites kids and makes them want to read. Having a display, having book talks, and showcasing a book are a few ways we can encourage that love of reading.\r\n\r\nWe have once a week full period of independent reading and within that school week we have 20 minutes dispersed of free choice reading time as well.","fullyFundedDate":1744200282424,"projectUrl":"project/more-books-for-my-eager-middle-schoolers/9062811/","projectTitle":"More Books for my Eager Middle Schoolers!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Giarratano","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3309836_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1457956845968","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3309836"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_932","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1516,"numTeachers":94,"percentFrplEligible":77,"percentAsian":58,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":6,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":31,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":70.7,"schoolId":932,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Junior High School 185 Edward Bleeker on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Junior High School 185 Edward Bleeker","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/jhs-185-edward-bleeker/932"}
