These resources have already made a significant impact, and we're so grateful for your support.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting moments was during our recent unit on cell biology. The students were able to use the new microscopes to examine onion skin and cheek cells, and the enthusiasm in the room was palpable. Their faces lit up as they focused on the cells through the lenses, identifying parts like the nucleus and cell wall for the first time. This hands-on experience deepened their understanding in a way that textbook diagrams just couldn't.\r\n\r\nWhen they first saw the microscopes and hot plate, their reactions were filled with awe and excitement. Many of them had never used professional-grade equipment before, and they were thrilled to be working with tools that scientists use in real laboratories. Their curiosity and engagement have been at an all-time high since we started using the new materials.\r\n\r\nNext, we are diving into an experiment involving plant cells and the effects of temperature on enzyme activity, which will give the hot plate a chance to shine. The students will heat solutions and observe the changes, using the microscopes to analyze the results at a cellular level. This experiment will allow them to connect theoretical knowledge to practical skills, reinforcing the scientific method and critical thinking.\r\n\r\nYour contribution is already enriching their educational experience, and we can't wait to see where these resources will take us next. Thank you again for making this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1662469155478,"projectUrl":"project/science-for-a-better-future/6754418/","projectTitle":"Science for a Better Future","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Connolly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7279710"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_420","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":380,"numTeachers":38,"percentFrplEligible":90,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":45,"percentWhite":5,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":40,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":420,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Junior High School 144 Michelangelo School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Junior High School 144 Michelangelo School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/jhs-144-michelangelo-school/420"}
