When my students saw the packages being delivered, they were intrigued to see what was being added to our classroom environment. Once they found out these new supplies were donated, they were beyond excited and so thankful - it was a wonderful way to teach them about the kindness of strangers! \r\n\r\nThe students have been able to use the sensory supplies during times when they become dysregulated and require some time to practice mindfulness. The sensory mats and fidgets have been a huge help during assessments when the students require tactile output while remaining quiet. \r\n\r\nAs the school year progresses, I know that thanks to you and your donations, my students will continue to benefit from the sensory supplies.","fullyFundedDate":1758821026818,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-supplies/9733178/","projectTitle":"Sensory Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Zucks","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1664786_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1696857380581","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mzucks"},{"teacherId":5619785,"projectId":9497407,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations. These contactless infrared thermometers were needed for a state lab about thermoregulation. I am one of a few teachers who currently teaches high school level biology to one 8th grade class. Part of preparing for our Regents exam in June is completing required state labs that are part of their laboratory hours. One of the labs is one about regulating body temperature. The students carry out an investigation in which they test how their core temperature and extremity (hand) temperature are affect by cold water and very warm water. They take data for multiple trials and compare average temperatures to their normal average body temperature for their core and hand. They analyze their data and apply their new knowledge about feedback mechanisms to other scenarios. \r\n\r\nMy students were very excited over the prospect of carrying out this investigation and using thermometers. A majority of the students stated that they had fun completing the lab and learned a lot from this hands on investigation. None of it would have been possible on this scale without this project supplying us with so many thermometers. \r\n\r\nI look forward to using these thermometers in this very lab for years to come. Due to your donations I was able to replace long since depleted toner in my color printer and supply my students with invaluable resources. \r\n\r\nThese resources include vocabulary word walls, diagrams in color, charts, and graphs to help support student learning. Many images are difficult to read in black and white and require more support in differentiating. It's also difficult to distribute computers multiple times a week. To make it easier to support students, I print my images in color often. This makes it easier to read graphs, diagrams, charts, and the images that they should associate with vocabulary words. To support students further, I place the images in plastic dry erase pockets so students can mark up the diagrams and graphs without having to print them again. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for making this possible this school year. First of all, we are able to use this iPad as a main hub for our school concerts and performances. We are already setting it up to work as the main sound board for our Winter Arts Festival.\r\n\r\nIt is also assisting with rehearsals in the choral classroom because it can easily connect to our Bluetooth speakers, which allows students to practice not only as a large ensemble, but in small groupings as well.\r\n\r\nI have also utilized this device to record individual vocal parts for the students. These tracks can then be shared with each student so they can practice their music in the comfort of their own home. This has significantly improved vocal skills and confidence within the choral ensemble.\r\n\r\nOne particular feature that the students have been excited about is mixing and editing their cultural performances for our annual Multicultural Festival. They are able to do this using the included Garage Band app on the device.\r\n\r\nThey are also very excited to use the iPad within the school community. The teachers are now able to color code their scaffolds and match creations to students' interested and preferences. Being able to color code and add color to our scaffolds and resources for the students is a monumental change. The students are now more engaged with their projects and are drawn to using their resources pages more. \r\nThis printer is specifically used in our school by a specialized program for students with Autism. With the thermal binding machine, I am now able to create high-quality, durable science workbooks for my students. This has been such a game-changer for both myself and the students. These workbooks help the students stay organized, keep their notes and assignments in one place, and make it easier to review and study. It's been a huge improvement in how I approach science lessons, and the impact is already being felt in the classroom. Students are more engaged and excited to use their workbooks, they know where we left off from the previous lesson or where we will begin when they walk in each day. The workbooks are a much more efficient way to organize and present the materials. It's helping everyone stay on track and really elevating the overall learning experience. Students are more focused and on task and more eager to learn with the organization and personalization of their own books.\r\nYour kindness has made this all possible, and I can't thank you enough!\r\nI truly appreciate your support, and am very excited to continue seeing the positive impact this will have on the students' learning and organization skills!","fullyFundedDate":1762718286821,"projectUrl":"project/no-loose-pages/9866840/","projectTitle":"No Loose Pages!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fiorentinos","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1952765"},{"teacherId":7559380,"projectId":9677673,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of snacks, sensory fidgets, and timers! We've already begun putting these resources to use during our small-group learning rotations and our class mindfulness block. The fidgets and timers have been especially helpful during independent work time—students are using the timers to manage their focus breaks, and the sensory tools are giving them a productive outlet for their energy. One of my favorite moments so far was during a collaborative reading activity: a student who often struggles to stay seated proudly showed me how the new fidget helped him stay focused long enough to finish the whole task with his partner.\r\n\r\nThe excitement when the students first saw the materials was priceless—they immediately gathered around, eager to explore and try everything. Their enthusiasm has not faded, and they continue to use the tools respectfully and with purpose. Looking ahead, we are beginning a multi-week project centered on building independent learning habits, and these donations will play a key role. Students will be tracking their own progress, setting goals, and using the timers and fidgets to support their self-regulation. The new resources have already brought incredible energy and focus to our speech therapy sessions.\r\n\r\nThe snacks have been a true game-changer. Many of my students come to school without breakfast, and now they're able to start their day with something nutritious. I've noticed that after grabbing a quick snack, they're more alert, focused, and ready to participate. The fidget tools have also become a favorite. They've given students a positive outlet to manage anxiety and stay grounded during therapy sessions. I've seen quieter students become more comfortable opening up because they have something to do with their hands, helping them focus and express themselves more freely. One of my students, who used to have difficulty staying seated, now looks forward to choosing his favorite fidget before we start, it's become part of his routine for success.\r\n\r\nOur new visual timer, portable whiteboard, and magnetic letters have brought a new level of structure and interaction to our lessons. The visual timer helps students better understand transitions and manage their time, which reduces stress and creates a smoother more predictable session. The addition of the portable whiteboard and magnetic letters have turned our lessons into interactive, hands-on experiences. During a recent literacy activity, my students worked together to spell new sight words using the magnetic letters, cheering each other on as they got the right combinations. It was such a joy to see their faces light up with excitement and confidence. Next, we'll be building on this momentum by using the whiteboard and letters for sentence-building and storytelling activities. These new tools will continue to help my students grow their communication, literacy, and self-regulation skills in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping create such a positive and supportive learning environment for my students. The tablet allows me to take quick notes, create visual supports, and keep materials organized without juggling paper and binders. It's been especially helpful during social groups for my students on the autism spectrum—I can easily jot down observations, track progress, and capture meaningful moments while staying fully engaged with the students.\r\n\r\nThe moment my students first saw the tablet, their faces lit up! They were fascinated by the technology and loved getting to \"write\" on it themselves. For many of them, seeing their work instantly appear on the screen feels special and motivating. The sleek, paper-like design has also helped minimize distractions, keeping our focus on the lesson itself rather than the device.\r\n\r\nCurrently, we're using the tablet to track fluency progress and to give visual feedback for specific techniques in fluency. The next step is teaching students how to use the notes we create together as part of their carryover practice outside of therapy.
