I have children who are hesitant to read and have a difficult time choosing appropriate books. My classroom library is pretty empty and I'm lacking titles that inspire my children to want to read. My students have negative memories when it comes to reading, and cannot remember a positive literacy interaction. They tell me that they hate reading and it breaks my heart as a book lover and a teacher! My goal is to get my children to love (or like!) books and reading. My children need quality literature that fits their interests in order to hook them and entice them to read. The children will be participating in book clubs during their English class. They get to choose their own books and groups based on their common interests. It sounds great in theory- but there is no money in the budget for the books! I am hopeful that the addition of these books to our classroom library will get the children more excited about reading!
