Teaching the Solar System to students at the 'Entering' and 'Emerging' levels of English proficiency can be a significant challenge, as abstract concepts are often difficult to grasp without language-accessible support. The materials you provided allowed me to move beyond static, text-heavy resources and instead offer concrete, visual, and tactile models that made the curriculum accessible.\r\n\r\n This shift was a total breakthrough for my students. It provided the necessary scaffolding for them to practice reading and writing in English with newfound confidence. A clear 'aha!' moment occurred when one of my students, who previously struggled to write basic sentences, was able to label a model of the solar system and independently write, 'The Sun is the center,' and 'Earth has water.' Seeing their pride when they successfully used academic vocabulary to describe the planets was the highlight of my year. \r\n\r\n Thank you for making these materials available and helping my students find their voices and express their understanding of the world around them.","fullyFundedDate":1758899095999,"projectUrl":"project/enl-ela/9666284/","projectTitle":"ENL ELA","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Miranda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10233423"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_856","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":484,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":90,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":13,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":74,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"17.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":73.5,"schoolId":856,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about East Williamsburg Scholars Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"East Williamsburg Scholars Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/hs-for-legal-studies/856"}
