In previous years, our annual field day activities were largely improvised, relying on makeshift games and whatever resources we could scrounge within the building. Thanks to your incredible support, this year's field day will be transformed, offering a wider array of engaging and organized activities that truly enhance the experience for our students.\r\n\r\nYour contributions have directly addressed a significant need, providing our children with access to physical activities and games that were previously limited due to a lack of resources. Their eyes lit up as they realized they would have the freedom to choose how and where they worked. The idea of having different seating options felt empowering to them, and they immediately wanted to try them out. It was a shift in how they viewed their classroom space—it suddenly felt more like a place designed for them to work and learn comfortably, rather than just a space where they had to sit still for long periods. The excitement was palpable, and even other grades started asking if they could borrow the chairs! The 8th grades are why we didn't have this last year. They are too funny! \r\n\r\n Looking ahead, the next steps for my students involve continuing to utilize the flexible seating in all kinds of collaborative and individual projects. One upcoming lesson focuses on designing their ideal learning environments. They'll work in small groups to plan how they would arrange a classroom for maximum focus and creativity. This will not only reinforce the importance of flexible spaces but also allow students to take ownership of their environment. Additionally, our school's occupational therapist loves having her sessions in my classroom now, as the chairs offer a great range of movement options that help her students feel more comfortable and focused. Technology is extremely important to the 21st century classroom along with the fact that most students are in school for most of the day. It is therefore important that the classrooms are conducive to learning.\r\nThe sun affects my classroom because of its location. My 7th and 8th graders often complain about the sun so, they were elated when we got the curtains to block the impact of the sun. Now scholars can see the white and smart board better without the glare of the sun. Students can sit in comfort without the sun stingy them in their backs. So, it is greatly appreciated by my scholars and I.\r\nAnother thing that we are extremely grateful for is the printer. The fact that they can see the documents in color is a game changer. Often they can not see the differences in the maps because everything is black and white but with the printer, we can see colors. The documents have come alive to the students and again, this is greatly appreciated. My ENL students can get pictures that are colorful to help them to understand the different concepts.\r\nI must highlight the different papers too. It bring colors to the bulletin board. Many individuals believe that adolescents do not pay attention to the bulletin board but they were so excited to see the colorful papers with their names along with the retro looking papers. The headphones help students focus on individualized assignments, the bookshelf ensures access to various reading materials, and the laminator allows us to preserve resources for extended periods.
