Sticker Club, which we have re-named \"Pixel & Peel\" has been a huge hit and a ton of fun. Students have been able to create original images using the software in the Cricut Design space and are using digital software to edit, upload, and create stickers from their original drawings. There's something about seeing your art in a sticky, shareable medium that's incredibly satisfying for young and not-so-young people alike. Teachers have made sticker requests that we've been able to fill and we created and donated a ton of stickers to our school's \"Winter Market.\" This is an event where our students are able to use the points they have accrued from positive behavior to shop for gifts for their friends and family from donated items. The stickers were a big hit and with internet memes, Stranger Things imagery, and the student's original drawings being the most popular choices. I've also been able to see students with similar interests making connections with peers from different grades and different social groups which is always nice! I should have sent this much earlier in the school year but as you can imagine it has been BUSY! With all that is going on in the world today, making my office into a cozy, fun, and safe space has become even more important than ever. Students show up and stop by constantly (even when I didn't invite them) and my space continues to be the go-to option every time there are tears, fears, or feelings. The staff also tend to take advantage of my room and I appreciate being able to support the young people and the less young people in my community. \r\n\r\nStudents come hang out with me during lunch whenever I'm not running a student club during that period. The last 2 days we annoyed (or entertained) the rest of the 4th floor with some raucous karaoke. What we lacked in pitch and tonality, we more than made up for in volume and enthusiasm. The Principal did stop by to give me his signature dead-pan look, but then he just shut the door and backed away slowly. \r\n\r\nThe chaos continues but so do I.","fullyFundedDate":1755694094152,"projectUrl":"project/ms-lias-school-social-worker-office/9430472/","projectTitle":"Ms. Lia's School Social Worker Office","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10061896_orig.jpg?crop=1270,1270,x534,y181&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750807831505","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10061896"},{"teacherId":8037604,"projectId":9025450,"letterContent":"I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have been training in martial arts for the last five years and it has become something that I am very passionate about. My passion for martial arts have crossed over into my teaching practice, and provided me with an entry point to get to know many of my students a lot better and to get them to open up and trust me when it comes to their education. The have been hounding me for years to get a kickboxing club going at the school.\r\n\r\nWhat started out with one or two students, a pair of Amazon focus mitts and my old boxing gloves has started to grow thanks to your kindness and generosity. With you donations we were able to afford Muay Thai pads, so the kids can have more protection while they work, focus mitts so the kids can work on their timing, and hand wraps and boxing gloves so they can be safe and learn how to Kickbox at a higher level! I now have around 7-10 students who are attending Kickboxing club regularly and am continuing to see interest to grow.
