My ninth-grade students are using the new folders, notebooks, pencils, highlighters, and storage bins to stay organized and focused as they prepare for the new NYS Life Science Regents exam. The highlighters have been especially valuable as students practice annotating questions, identifying key terms, and using test-taking strategies to better understand what each question is asking. Students are also using their folders and notebooks to organize class notes, assignments, and lab reports so they can easily access and review their work.\r\n\r\nThe storage bins have helped us organize completed labs by Biology class period, while having pencils readily available has made completing labs much more efficient. Students no longer have to leave the classroom to search for basic supplies, allowing them to spend more time collaborating, discussing scientific ideas, and completing their investigations. When students ran out of notebooks, having extra notebooks available ensured the continuation of the lessons and notetaking without interruption. My students were very excited and appreciative when they saw the materials because they knew these resources would make their daily learning easier.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue strengthening students' writing, laboratory skills, and ability to analyze scientific information as we prepare for the Regents exam. We will continue using annotation and highlighting strategies while completing labs and connecting evidence to scientific explanations. My students are charismatic, hardworking, and eager to learn, and these materials have helped create an environment where they can focus on learning, working together, and becoming confident young scientists.","fullyFundedDate":1776103952174,"projectUrl":"project/organization-in-our-biology-class/10066748/","projectTitle":"Organization in our Biology class!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Antoine","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10421108_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1770754322448","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10421108"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_2163","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":372,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":79,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":67,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":17,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"16.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":82.4,"schoolId":2163,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Bedford Academy High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Bedford Academy High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/bedford-academy-high-school/2163"}
