With the new resources—ribbon twirlers, resistance bands, rhythm sticks, and colorful dance skirts—my students have been able to explore movement and creativity in ways we never could before.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their faces lit up with excitement. One student shouted, \"Are these really for us?!\" as they eagerly tried on the dance skirts and waved the ribbon twirlers through the air. It was a joyful and unforgettable moment that truly brought energy into our classroom.\r\n\r\nWe recently completed a dance project focused on rhythm and storytelling through movement. Using the rhythm sticks and resistance bands, students worked in small groups to choreograph their own short routines. They incorporated patterns, beats, and expressive movements, demonstrating not just creativity but collaboration and confidence. The materials made it easier for them to visualize rhythm and understand how the body moves in space.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll be diving into cultural dances from around the world. The students are excited to use the ribbon twirlers and skirts to express different traditions and styles as they learn about global movement practices. The students gobbled up the snacks within the first week. The pens, pencils and water bottles continue to be used. It is wonderful to have these resources as it fosters a welcoming learning environment. \r\nBy now, we have completed Paulo Coelho's novel. This timeless story of self-discovery and the pursuit of one's dreams offers profound exploration of personal growth and the importance of listening to one's own inner voice. To read the novel, we discussed key vocabulary words and concepts and had lengthy discussions. We took a closer look at the religious allusions to the bible and the Muslim pillars. We also discussed and debated about if we control our own fate or if it already written, \"maktub\" as Coelho suggests. Additionally, we questioned the author's choices of not developing the female characters and why they do not have a personal legend. \r\nAs you can imagine, we had very lively discussions about the themes of the novel and it was a fantastic learning experience. In the past the pieces of the robot were scattered around the room, but now pieces are easily collected and returned to be reused. One feature is the metal sweeper. The robots have many metal parts so when the parts are dropped on the floor, it is now easier to pick up the metal pieces and deposit them in an area so they can be sorted and returned to be used. The parts remaining on the floor are now plastic parts that can be swept up, sorted and then returned. Students love to use the metal sweeper with the quick release handle.\r\n\r\nOther organizers allow students to see what size axles can be used for their robot, measure for the size that they need and not have to ask me the teacher for the equipment. The extra set of books that we received was a success. Students couldn't wait to pick their book of choice.
