My students spotted them before I even had a chance to open them, and within minutes we had weighted eye pillows, blocks, and blankets spread across the floor — kids trying them out, comparing weights, asking \"wait, this is for us?\"\r\n\r\nThanks to you, my Mind and Body Wellness and mindful movement classes now have the tools they need to actually settle into stillness — something that used to be one of the hardest parts of the day for a lot of my students.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the blankets and weighted eye pillows during our guided relaxation practice at the end of class. I have one student in particular who struggles to sit still for even thirty seconds most days — the first time she wrapped up in a blanket and put on a weighted eye pillow, she stayed in stillness for the entire five-minute practice. She looked up afterward and said, \"That actually worked.\" That one sentence made the whole project worth it.\r\n\r\nThe blocks have become part of our gentle movement sequences, helping students who don't have the flexibility or strength yet to fully settle into certain poses. Instead of straining or giving up, they're building confidence — modifying instead of quitting, which is a lesson that goes well beyond the yoga mat.\r\n\r\nWhat's next: we're moving into a unit on self-regulation, where students will start identifying their own \"toolbox\" of calming strategies — and thanks to you, these tools are officially part of that toolbox. We'll also be introducing peer-led mini practices, where students who've gotten comfortable with them help guide their classmates through a short relaxation exercise.\r\n\r\nYou didn't just fund equipment. You gave my students a way to feel calm in their own bodies — some of them for the first time. Thank you for seeing the value in that, and for making it real for us.","fullyFundedDate":1778121701389,"projectUrl":"project/calm-grounded-ready-to-learn/10263092/","projectTitle":"Calm, Grounded & Ready to Learn","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jodie Seymour","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5942044_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1538502801277","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5942044"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_23158","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":232,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":67,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":95,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"7.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":85.7,"schoolId":23158,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Johnsburg Central School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Johnsburg Central School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/johnsburg-central-school-district/johnsburg-central-school/23158"}
